How To Make Your Book Sell Like WILDFIRE (Steemit Original)

in #life8 years ago (edited)

Writers can publish their write ups to Kindle Cloud via kindle direct publishing (KDP), making sure their content is available to Kindle users.
A well-crafted book is likely to gather more readers than one which lacks originality and fascinating content. However, regardless of the way your book is drafted, marketing can help it gain more readers.
For a new author, I know by experience, That MARKETING IS EVERYTHING! So many books are published everyday! You need to get yours noticed in the mess of kindle books.

Digital marketing tools are a reliable source to promote your e-book on the Kindle store. These are fairly basic tips, I'll get to more advanced stuff below :)

Start a Blog

A blog is a great way to promote your Kindle book. Regularly update content on the blog, communicate with people and answer their questions, if they have any, regarding your book. This will increase their interest in your book, and they will become a follower of your content.
You can eventually use your blog to help you write additional books. Also you can keep your blog on Steemit or your website!!

Develop social media pages

Social media marketing is a huge leap forward in the world of digital marketing. By following easy steps, you can establish a page for your e-book and promote content. Social media pages are easy sources to gather followership.
Facebook, Steemit, Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter are some of the many social media websites where you can market your Kindle book. Facebook Ad Post helps you to promote your content among people who have already liked pages similar to yours. It's important to figure out where your market is HIDING! You need to find the correct audience.

For example, If you publish adult coloring books, Picture-based social media sites such as Steemit, Instagram, and Facebook are good ones. There are also tons of Facebook groups full of people you can join, to promote your stuff.

While short quotes or fiction books may do better on Twitter or Steemit.

Develop a Review Page on Goodreads

Goodreads is a reliable source to market your book and gather much-needed followership. You can develop a review page on the website, allowing people to leave their views about your content. You can also add introductory abstracts from your book to help people, oblivion to your e-book, understand what you have expressed in it.

Note:
Some authors have claimed that this has helped them a ton, But by personal experience I haven't seen any results for my nonfiction books.

Send Emails to Targeted Customers

Email marketing has been very popular among businesses as it allows you to target a specific audience for the promotion of your product. As a writer, you can send targeted emails to potential readers and further the number of followers of your work. There are many automation software available in the marketing, using which you can quickly send loads of emails, on a daily basis. You can get started by signing up for MailChimp or Aweber. Mailchimp is what I use; It's free up to around 2,500 users, which is great if you are short on cash but still want to get a reasonable email list going.

Develop an e-book Landing Page on your Website

Your personal website is the ultimate location where most of the followers will end up, to seek more information about your e-book. It is advisable to develop a landing page for your book on your website so that people can find all they want to know. This will help you turn them into a loyal fan base. Many people do this, But I personally haven't seen a benefit from doing this.

Hire Review Agencies

You can hire a review agency to provide your book with top reviews. Professional reviewers will leave honest and encouraging reviews, for your book, on multiple websites. This is uplifting for general readers as they are more likely to read a book with good reviews compared to one which lacks them. Note: it's against the terms of service of Amazon to buy reviews, This is why you need HONEST reviews! Do not buy reviews, But there are servies that allow you to give free products to Amazon's top reviewers, in exchange for their honest review. With the help of this website I've made a lot of money, and they always make sure they comply with the TOS of Amazon.
This site works great

Offer Coupons for Free Reading

People who love reading will do anything and pay anything to read a book. However, when it is available for free, the number of readers grows exponentially. Therefore, you should offer free reading coupons to random readers on different websites.
There is no denying the fact that a nicely oriented book will gather readers for itself, no matter what. But, a sensibly carried out marketing drill elevates the speed at which these readers will reach your content.

INTERMEDIATE KINDLE MARKETING CONTENT

Offer coupons for free reading continue....

I do the KDP Select. You don't have to, But I recommend it. Or if you do not do the KDP select you may want to have Amazon do a free period on your book.
KDP select will allow you to give your book away for five days or so every couple months. You can promote your FREE BOOK like crazy.
Why would I want to promote a free book?
Because of the Amazon Algorithm. You want to boost your BSR (Best Seller Ranking) As much as you possibly can! Promoting your free book will help that happen.

What If I choose NOT to do KDP select?
Yeah I know, The exclusivity SUCKS! But I tried not doing KDP Select, and I got so little sales from Kobo, Smashwords and Barnes and Noble that It wasn't worth it.
But if your heart is set on NO kdp select, Then you can offer a free period on your book, but FIRST, you have to put it on an Amazon's large competitors website, Such as Barnes and Noble or the Apple store FOR FREE, Then you got to listing page, and send Amazon a report that you found a price "cheaper elsewhere" They will then drop your book to 0.00

But No one values free content!

Right, you are! You'll have the occasional douchebag download your book, then leave you a one-star review, Saying how your book caused them cancer and you should never write again! You'll cry and stab your ramen noodle fork deep into your arm.

HOW DARE THEY! I POURED OUT MY FLDSJLKFDSJFDSLKJSDFJ SOUL AND JHFLDSJFLKSGJKLD

But for the most part, I've seen GREAT results from free books, But it's not a tactic for everyone!
James Altuchter offered a pretty cool deal in his book, His book is NOT free, But if you hate it, read it and decided you want your money back. You can contact him and he'll give it to you!
Of course you can attempt something like this, But how do you know if the cusotomer acutally purchased it? Assuming you enrolled in KDP select.
It's something to think about...

How Do I get Reviews?

GOOD REVIEWS are highly important. Don't publish garbage, because you need honest reviews that are good.
NO SKIMPING!
There are tons of ways to get reviews,
But don't even think about having your friends or family leave you one; Amazon will remove it. They see it as biased. But can you blame them?
If you write the worst book in the world, What are the chances that your best friend will let you know they hated it with a one-star review? Probably not happening.

  1. Use the website I mentioned above.
  2. Post your book, and offer value to Facebook groups involved in your Niche.
  3. Offer the freebie period.
  4. Write in the intro of your book and at the end of the book that you would appreciate an honest review from your customers. Let them know that their opinion matters.
  5. Post a free preview of your book on Steemit, and ask your fellow Steem friends for some help!
  6. Ask your email list to help out.
  7. Contact Amazon's top reviewers requesting a review, If you are offering them a Kindle edition, Start lower on the list. Don't contact the #1 Reviewer; you'll get ignored. Try the lower people they are more likely to review it for you, you can even send them an advanced copy of your book Via PDF, SO they can read it early, Prepare their review and have it ready to go on launch day.
  8. Join (Author Marketing Club (AMC))[http://www.authormarketingclub.com/] for their marketing tips and tools, They even sell premade covers, Which are great for ideas or you can buy one for your book!

Make sure to offer everyone you talk to about your book VALUE!
What is in it for your customer?
Will they be able to manage their money better? Will your book teach them how to eat an elephant in an hour?

EMPHASIZE THAT.
Magic will open, Their wallets will open. They will beg to read your book. All the sudden your book is a gift from God! They must touch it! They must hold it!

No one wants to hear,

"PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW ON MY BOOK BECAUSE I NEED REVIEWS, AND MY BOOK WON'T SELL WITHOUT REVIEWS, AND MY BOOK TOOK MY WHOLE LIFE TO WRITE SO YOU NEED TO STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO LEAVE ME A REVIEW BECAUSE MY TIME IS MORE VALUABLE THAN YOURS IS"

Because quite frankly...

What other things would you guys like me to share about my experience making money with ebookS?

Thanks to share your advices, kaylinart. I wrote 5 ebooks in spanish but I don't manage to get reviews. Just 3000 downloads.

Thank you :) One way to get reviews is to ask your reader at the end of the book to nicely leave a review if they enjoyed your book! This helps me get some extra ones!!
Dont' beg for reviews, But also asking for one, After telling the customer how much value the book will give them, Is a good tactic.

Good tactic. But the point is that the books are online and I don't know the people who read my ebooks, so cannot talk about them. Here is one website where I uploaded http://www.monografias.com/usuario/perfiles/raul_pipaon/monografias

Keep up the great work @kaylinart
