How To HACK apart Your Book, WITHOUT Hurting The Pages!

in #life9 years ago

Yes, Tear it! But don't destroy the pages! Sometimes books are better in multiple pieces! We want "chunks" of books, not the whole thing at once.

You may like to color, But sadly so many coloring books aren't microperforated. IT SUCKS!

Although I can't talk, Because guess what!?
The books I publish aren't microperforated either. I self-publish, and I'm not allowed to, Like. It's not even an option for me. I wish they'd change it Because so many colorists want to tear out the pages for easy coloring.

But there is a super easy way to rip apart your books,

  • You can tear apart an old journal, Scan the pages for evernote
That way it won't accumulate more space.

  • You can take apart coloring books for sharing, smooth coloring, Or putting it into your scrapbook.

  • You can do it to recipe books for easy sorting, (Sorting into a big binder)

  • How to draw books, Or How to books, Especially because holding a book while you do something is inconvenient. You can punch holes in it and put it in a binder.

I am using one of my coloring books as an example
Animal Forest

I am tearing it apart because I plan to make a children's edition of this coloring book.

Lets get started

Step 1

Get a blow dryer with heat; It can't have only cold settings.

Step 2

Turn the dryer on, and begin heating up the binding. Go up and down the edge of the book, You are essentially melting the glue holding the whole book together.

Step 3

Bend the book open using a bit of force, To loosen up the glue, and begin blow drying the book again if necessary.

Step 4

Open to the front page, and start pulling the book apart, The glue should be melted enough it should free fairly quickly. Completely tear the cover off.

Step 5

Start removing the glue from the edges of the pages; you can use the blow dryer again if necessary.
Start gently ripping the pages out a couple at a time, (It should be similar to tearing pages from a notebook).

Yay! Your book is now free!

  • You can punch holes in the pages for a binder.
  • Glue the pages into a scrapbook.
  • Slide them into a page protector thing, (Not sure what they are called). That way you don't have to punch a hole into them.
  • Use the pages for art projects. Or if you want you can even scan the whole book easily and save it into Dropbox or Evernote for personal use.

Happy Book Destroying!

Sort:

Wouldve never thought to do that, that way!

Hehehe yes it's more gentle on the book

What's a book? Hey, @kaylinart, I see your stalker finally gave up!

HAHAHA! It's one of those strange bulky things, That you can unfold. And there is like text messages in there.

LOL.
I think so! Luckily Steemit was throwing him to the bottom where he was unseen, He probably realized it was a waste of his time. I'm so thankful. That was driving me nuts! Haha.

Shocking!
shockingly valuable tips!

Hheheh thank you .

Salsa and peanut butter are two things I prefer chunky, but I can't say that books fall into that category.

LOL! BUt for some stuff it helps, Like coloring books.
