For the Love of Traveling

in #life7 years ago

People love to leave their homes and seek new adventures, but what motivates them to do this? Take a look at some of the common reasons below, and see if any of these apply to you.

(1) Challenging yourself. For some of us, the idea of getting out and seeing new things is a great way to challenge ourselves and reach outside of our comfort zones. We get the opportunity to experience new cultures and new ways of doing things. I can personally relate to this from my time in Tokyo. My husband and I had to trust ourselves enough to navigate around this busy city via the local subways and train stations. Specifically, we had to interpret the signs around us to ensure we were taking the correct routes as we traveled from one part of the city to another.

(2) Relaxing and rejuvenating. Everyone feels stressed at one point or another, especially with the never-ending tasks that are expected from us both at home and at work. At this pace, many of life's joys tend to pass us by, which can be dwindling to one's overall health. When we take the time to relax and rejuvenate, it gives us a chance to come back to reality resilient and ready to make moves, so to speak. My favorite way to do this is with a long massage in which my thoughts and worries just drift away.

(3) Expanding your perspective. People are constantly curious about what the world has to offer, and for this reason, we are driven to explore the way others live and conduct their day to day roles. Additionally, you can see the struggles that other cultures face and how they manage them with the resources they have. It is also rewarding to have greater insight when you speak about certain topics because you will have more than one point of view.

(4) Strengthening relationships. As many of us are aware, relationships are a natural part of life, and we encounter new ones everyday from those with our children and parents to coworkers and members of the congregation. So it is essential that we find ways to strengthen these relationships in order to bond and grow. As easy as it is to get caught up in our daily routines, we all need time to take a step back and focus on those who are most important to us.

If any of these motivators speak to you, or you just wish to share your experiences, please comment below.
