🌀 Hurricane Ophelia hits Ireland. 🌀
Some of the damage left behind by ex-hurricane Ophelia in Cork.
There are trees down all over the south of Ireland. The storm has now moved further inland and northwards. There is a lull here in the south now as damage is assessed. But the winds have changed direction now as it passes over, and further gales are expected.
I don't usually have much praise for the government, but I must say that they have been very organised. Schools and businesses are closed today, there is very little transport on the roads, all hospital outpatient and local doctor appointments have been cancelled unless an absolute emergency. Flights have been cancelled, trains cancelled, bus services cancelled. The military are on standby to help people in distress.
Thankfully part of a tree next to my house that fell, along with many branches was blown in the opposite direction and not onto my roof. But now the wind has changed direction and is beginning to pick up again. 😯
Thousands of homes are now without electricity. There is a risk of flooding in various counties.

Its on its way to us, the winds are picking up here, stay safe :)
Amazing post @katdvine
Thank you, I stayed indoors as advised. There is so much damage. 350,000+ people are without electricity.
this is terrible😓
Thanks for the update. Glad the tree fell the other way. Stay safe.
Me too, but now we have gale-force winds blowing in the opposite direction. So, fingers crossed.
