WE NEED A BIGGER TANK AS OUR SHARK IS OUTGROWING THE ONE WE HAVE.

in #life5 years ago

7 months ago hubby bought a Red Tailed Shark. It was small when we first got it. Here is is finding its way around his new home.

7 MONTHS ON.

He still doesn't like people getting to close to the tank, I had to add some food to bring him out of his hiding space. He is the king of the tank, he makes sure the other fish stay away from his den. With him growing so well hubby now needs a new bigger tank as he is to big for this one, not forgetting his other fish are outgrowing this tank too.

So after Christmas hubby is getting a 31/2 foot tank twice the size of the one he has now. The shark will carry on growing to around 6 inches, They don't bite other fish but will chase when feeding, they will continue to chase until the other fish dies of stress. Most of the time he just swims around, he seems to get on with other fish until feeding time then chases them until he has had enough to eat.

I will update with the new tank in the New Year.

Thank you @son-of-satire

Those little red-tail sharks are one of my favorites. When I last had a tank, it was the angelfish that outgrew the place, and eventually the biggest one started eating the neon tetras. Eventually I sold that fish for $40 (!) to a local aquarium pet shop, thought about becoming an angelfish farmer then!

Sounds like a good idea, hubby has a few angelfish in his tank, they are starting to get big too. he wants a few more black ones for his bugger tank :)

Will the new tank replace the old one, or will you put him in a tank of his own? Would he prefer being by himself?

The new tank is going in the old tanks place then this old tank is taking over from the double tank we have on the opposite side of the room.

Thats gonna grow to be a seven footer!! Eh, what size of tank will you be getting then!

Yeah just as i thought another male who exaggerates on size... haha he will grow to 6 inches

Sounds like seven foot for defo! :op

Think you have your cms and inches mixed up

Attractive fish. :-)

They are lovely to watch

We had the same problem when we had a tank, we ended up getting a huge tank and it only grew even more in there, well the pair of them did

That's the problem he always wants to go bigger

Ohh yes ours grew to about a foot long in the end they were huge LOL

Looks like i will be buying a bigger tank next year.. again LOL

LOL you may well be we ended up with a huge one LOL

He's getting no more my house isn't big enough LOL

LOL I think they wil only grow to the max they can for the tank so even thought you may think he is to big for it see how he does LOL

He is n't getting a bigger tank, he can buy me a bigger house first LOL

There won't be any more tanks, He isn't going to take over with his tanks.
I wonder where I heard that?

I know, I am way to soft... :(
