5 Ways to Learn and Set your Limits
okay this is @kamranshaikh and this is a overview on how to set boundaries in your relationships it will help you to be more assertive.
1. Admit your personal lines
Now many of us second-guess ourselves we can pair our limits to others so for example if you feel like you should be saying yes to a extra project beyond your basic job description at work. It could be because you see others taking on more and feeling you should be able to hack it too.
If they can do it why can't i but the bottom line is that if you feel like something is too much for you it just is if you don't want to do something it's okay to feel that way embrace what you need and protect yourself by protecting your limits Non judgement of yourself is key.
2. Trust your intuition
Though this is of course easier said than done and it can require some releasing of old programming that will allow us to be in the present. Intuition comes from the present not the past so trusting your intuition basically means paying attention to your gut feeling without explanations or second-guessing release the reasons behind an impulse and just feel the pull of your deeper self.
Now I get this question a lot how can you tell the difference between your intuition and fear or old programming and the in order to tell the difference between fear and old programming and deep intuition you want to pay attention to the quality of the feeling so for example if you're starting to make changes in your life you know you might feel scared but if you're following your deeper self in those changes it will feel more like an expansion rather than a constriction in your body so pay attention to your gut feelings and notice the difference you will just by doing it over time be able to tell right away what the difference is.
3. Practice limit setting on small things
Now this is when we're really practicing learning how to say no to people and it's not that easy for us we have to practice and until we pick small things with low stakes to practice on but if you get caught off guard and you haven't had a chance to think about how you want to respond let's say you want to say no but you don't feel comfortable just remember that it's okay to ask for time you can say you know there's some things I need to consider can I get back to you on this.
4. Start spending time with people who support your limits
now this is really important because you want to hang out with people who support you in making these changes and take a break from those who don't.
People who really have your best interest at heart are going to support your efforts who you spend time with is key
5. Listen to your body
I highly recommend mind-body practices like yoga or deep breathing exercises or meditation and any other kind of thing that will bring you into your body and notice the sensations this will help you connect with your intuition and your body will tell you what you need or if something doesn't feel right so listen and listen well
Finally when you have good boundaries you're able to assert yourself once
you know what your limits are and where you and and others begin it becomes so much easier to ask for what you want or assert yourself with integrity and ease.
