Why ghost appear, What was their purpose, Whose in control of them?

To make confusion
People who see ghosts often get confused. They start wondering about what the truth is about eternal destiny --- about heaven and hell, and it's immediacy. If they will see a ghost of their loved one, it confuses about their beliefs of afterlife. They start having questions. " I thought they should be in heaven by now, but why is it that I just saw my grandma the other day? She told me that she is looking after me, that she is just near me."

Now, because one person saw a ghost, his beliefs about when will be the soul go away and went to eternal judgement will change. Instead of believing in what the Bible says that the soul of the deceased person immediately goes to it's eternal destination, they will think that the deceased person still lingers here on earth, like what many movies and shows would have us believe. That is just not true! "Man is destined to die once, and after that, judgement." Don't get confused by this tactic of the devil.

Just think about it, if there are ghost that yet to circling us, and if they are souls that is looking for peace or justice, then it seems like we said that what the Bible says is not true after death, judgement is immediately after. It appears (if ghost is true) that the one who died has still hopes to do the last preparation before going to his final destination. The devil just give confuses. There's a final destination immediately once one person died. No promotion and also no demotion.

To cause fear
This is the obvious effect of the ghost appearances. When the spirit appears in that church, the whole church went to a "fright-mode." There's no more church member who wants to go to the comfort room that has no chaperone. And no one also likes to go to the dark areas. Fear grip the hearts of those church members.

But then again, isn't that exactly what the devil wanted? The demon gets stronger where there is fear glides in people heart. This is why the Lord reminded His people, time and again, not to be fearful but be courageous. Let this promise from the Lord be with us to counter the spirit of fear:

"You remember what I say: be strong and be prowess. Don't be afraid or lose hope because I Yaweh, your God, is with you wherever you go." (Josue 1:9, MBB).

Isn't that comforting? We must not be afraid or be discouraged because God has promise to be with us wherever we are. Even as you read this book now, Jesus is with you. He loves you and always protect you.

Here is another promise: "For the spirit that God given us is not a spirit of cowardice, but of power, love, and restraints oneself" (2 Timothy 1:7, MBB). Imagined that. If satan wants to tied us by fear, God also then have three gifts to vanished fears: His power, His love, and a sound mind. You see the choice is clear here what we would rather have. We want God's offer.

Finally, here is one more verse: "No fear in love and with perfect love it eliminates any fear" (1 Juan 4:18, MBB). The perfect love that was mentioned in here is Jesus itself. And what it says is "perfect love (Jesus) drives out fear!" Let Jesus takes away all of your fears that ghost or demon puts in your hearts. Jesus is the victorious One.

To demonize others
He knew of some account of people that when they saw the ghost that spirit possesses them in that instant. The ghost or spirit that appears to them "possessed" them or to be more precise, "demonized" them. There is one young man that he prayed for from Mandaluyong. He was possessed, so his family called for him to help them. When he asked the spirit which inside the young man's body who he is and how he gets inside, it answered.

"I am also a young man when I entered him. There are four cops who salvage me. I just want to get revenge from them and after that I will leave this man," that's he said. The people who were witnessing the exorcism all felt pity for the supposed "salvage victim." They said that justice must be served for the young man.

But the Bible has taught him to discern. There are no human spirits that are left hovering this earth. They all go to directly to their place of judgement upon dying. What the spirit said about inside the young man's body is not true. In truth, he is a demon claiming as soul of one person who wants to get revenge. So what he do, he didn't buy the demons lie. He commanded the demon spirit to stop lying and just come out of that body "in Jesus name." Guess what? It left. Praise God for the power of the name of Jesus.

If we believed in those ghost that they are the soul of those people that already dead, and if we will have sympathy and pity of them, we can be a candidate to possessed. And you will not like what will happen to you if your being possessed. If there is one spirit that you want inside of you, let it be the Holy Spirit, no one else.
