RE: [Why is it so? Series] Why do we need oxygen to live ?
Life originally evolved in an anoxic environment, and cells had to come up with ways to cope with oxygen. We do need oxygen to live, but our cells don't deal with it in the most beautiful of ways. You can see this by the fact that the cytoplasm is still a reducing environment, oxygen is a nuisance to that, something the cell must deal with. This all stems back from the early days of evolution where oxygen was not prevalent.
I read that as well, but I though it might be too much for this article.. There are a few species recently been found which can live in anoxic environment.. Thanks for the input.. I'll try harder next time to improve the quality and correctness.. :)
I wasn't saying you were incorrect, just talking about this widely unknown aspect of cells. :) Keep up the good posts! We need a lot more good scientific discussion here to help keep the pseudoscience at bay.
Aye Aye Captain..!! :)
Thank you for the contribution.. This is the kind of a thing which keeps me going.. :)
