I agree with your point that the number of impoverished has increased, but I have to disagree with your logic of why. A decrease in mortality rates as a function of increase in population is not a cause of poverty. The largest single cause of poverty in the world is the lack of financial prosperity due to the increase in theft (taxation, tariffs etc.) by governments and or corporations.
