For the most part, I agree with what you're saying here. I would suggest that there's a slight confusion or substitution in the phrase you're using.

It's not very important, but the way I usually hear the phrase is: Practice makes perfect. (There is no perfect man.) What this usually refers to is a repetitive behavior or skill, ie, you want to get good at playing guitar? You should practice. You want to improve your writing? You should practice. You want to get good at golf? Go practice.

And, while the word "perfect" is an exaggeration, I think in all of these cases, practice is very necessary to improve one's skill.

You, however, seem to want to apply this phrase to the idea of "success" in general. I don't think it's a perfect fit. Your point is well taken: continuing the same behavior in order to achieve a different result does not work. But, unfortunately, there is no real way to "practice success". All one can do is improve one's skills, and apply them in the pursuit of success. And some skills will be more valuable than others.
