WORKING TOWARDS LEGACYsteemCreated with Sketch.

So aside from emphasis, I believe that there is truly a misconception of what it takes to have "legacy." Every so often, a character like me has the audacity to superimpose their view on the world and want some extraordinary "thing," whatever it is, however we conceptualize it. Whether it be material or nonmaterial, the thesis is the same. The biggest setback is perhaps when we envision this world (where we have achieved what it is that we are after) and we convince ourselves that other people should be in agreement or come from the same level of understanding. The truth is, there is no context and without context, it's just another idea. If there is nothing substantial about what it is that you are trying to accomplish, separating it from an idea or concept and a foundation/value proposition, you are holding on by a thread.

There have been many dreamers who have come and gone, many of which come to the same conclusion (theoretically). Intention is everything, but intention without action is utterly worthless. Far too many people are rewarding themselves for the good that they want to do for the world rather than the good that they are doing on a daily basis to support that ambition. Too many people are pondering and pontificating on how they are going to be this brilliant entrepreneur who makes billions and makes a dramatic impact on all of humanity. Some of which are the same people who run from humanly interactions and can't hold a conversation for their life because "their time is too valuable." The numbers say otherwise and the anomaly of such an occurrence is absurd. It's an amazing time to be alive. The fact that we can even have this conversation and there is such a large pool of people who seek more fulfillment is astounding. But, we are crippled by the "what ifs" of life and are not acting on the knowledge that we have. Another fatal way of thinking is wanting it faster than the allotted time that it takes. So many of us are in a rush for no good reason. There are no overnight successes and we've fallen victim into believing various narrative biases.

My confession is that I have found this latent in my own narrative as it plays out and I am fascinated by this behavior. All in all, If you don't love the process more than the result, you simply don't have the stamina. Patience is the game because life is a marathon and we are only capable of doing what we are willing to do. I truly hope everyone finds what they are looking for but in closing, don't be afraid to have that conversation with yourself and audit your actual behavior. Make sure your intention is pure and go out and execute.
