Differences in communication codes can lead to misunderstandings

in #life5 years ago

In simple nature we can see how the handling of certain codes can lead to certain rivalries, an example:

Some studies have shown that the rivalry that generally exists between dogs and cats has to do with that for the canines raise the tail and move it is a sign of joy, but for cats the same code means quite the opposite, a signal alert to an attack ...

In the same way something similar can happen in humans.

Because of my current reality of living in another country, in this case in the city of Bogotá, Colombia, I have been able to realize many things that differentiate us.

Bogota is a beautiful city, very busy, with heavy traffic, traffic congestion, but also many green areas, as you may have seen in many of the publications I have done. A very cold city, where it is practically obligatory to wear a coat.

Where people in general are very polite, respectful and traditional. Something formal could be said, very influenced by religion, especially Catholicism.

At this point, I want to clarify something, I am not a sociologist or psychologist, my professions are nursing and medicine, but I still have the ability to analyze this type of behavior, and also make a personal judgement, from the respect.

Clarified this point, CONTINUE...

There are some substantial differences between my Venezuelan compatriots and the way of being of the Bogotano, these inequalities in the perception and the way of expressing ourselves can make that for many natives of here, we can seem something daring or disrespectful (I insist that it is a personal vision).

An example:

A Venezuelan is asked:

Do you want juice with sugar?

One simply answers: yes, or clear, or one saysobvio. And that kind of answers, for the Bogotanos is not usually the usual thing.

If a native of this city of Bogotá is asked the same question, he will answer it:

Yes, sir or yes, ma'am... here's already a substantial difference. The lack of that signor can result as a lack of respect for some.

In Venezuela you call the people of advanced age sir or lady, at first you think: How am I going to tell you sir or woman if you are barely 20 years old?

But you learn, and I think it is your duty, as a person arriving in a new country, to get used to the way of talking about the place that receives you.

This is how differences can unintentionally cause discomfort between people who agree even for the first time. However, because of the massive presence of Venezuelans in every corner of Latin America, and the world, I might say. They have begun to understand a little our culture, our way of communicating, ways of eating, let's say that this has been part of the history of the world, of how some countries have grown, with the influence of many cultures, mixing with each other.

Let's see what happens to all this migratory flow. With Venezuela forcibly expanding all over the world.

Luckily, even though the news from the impetus to sell highlights the bad events more, I know we are more people who are doing good things than the bad ones....

I wanted to leave this personal vision in my blog, in Steemit's blockchain to share it with whoever likes to spend it.

I invite you to be part of
