The Great Steemit Self Voting Debate - Right or Privilege?

Build up never tear down. To be truly happy we must give to others.
Let's support each other and not tear each other apart. We do not need to fight within. We are Steemit. Spread goodness.
Let's end the debate
These past few days we have heard a lot from a lot of steemians on the issue of upvoting. This is causing a lot of division within our community. It is also causing some ugly wars. We do not want that.
What you should upvote
Upvote what inspires you. Upvote what teaches you. Upvote what touches you. Upvote to encourage an author to post more content. Upvote what you feel will reward you in curation.
Upvote yourself if you like.
If you are investing in Steem Power you are investing in the community. There may not be so much fun or happiness in upvoting only yourself though. Other people will surely not be upvoting for you.That is for you to decide. You will gain more in building others up and voting for them.
The more we give the more we receive.
I personally upvote all readers of my articles who upvote my content. They are supporting me and I support them. Together we are stronger.
What you should downvote
If something bothers you have the right to downvote. But that harms Steem and the community. The only real reason to downvote is if it harms Steem as a whole in any way. Because that harms us all.
What you should focus on to be successful on Steem
Stop worrying about your brothers and sisters. That is going to cause you to lose focus on creating good content. Start helping them. Give through upvoting good content and good comments.
Upvoting your own comments is within the rules of Steem. If you do not like it please bring awarness by blogging about it. But downvoting others because of it is harming Steem. Please help not hurt our community.
Even if you do not agree with another user, remember everything stays on the blockchain. Be remembered for causing a spark of good.
