Planet of The Apes
Went to see the latest Planet of The Apes movie last night. The moral of these movies seems to be that humans suck. Almost all the humans in these movies are portrayed as stupid, violent and amoral. I don't find that to be an accurate depiction of our species at all. I do think there are people like that, but I don't think that is the way most people think or behave. Any thoughts?
Yeah I agree. Sadly this is just a movie though so it's going to be fiction and based off the ape's perspective. I do agree with you though. Some humans are like that in real life, but not the majority.

This was done to make the monkeys look more persecuted, so that the audience sympathize with them. But it seems that the producer overdid it)
You must know that we are living in luxury. PS: You're using internet and going to a cinema to see a movie.. Yes, you are living in luxury.
What if that all falls away? If we all struggle to survive? What if we could kill the apes and by doing that maybe prevent the extinction of the human race?
And we don't have any competitors in taking over the world anymore. And when we do, which were always others of our own race, we have taken them out. When Germany rose, the rest of the world took them out. If you want more examples, simply look at the human history. Many of those wars... They were for conquest. We don't want others taking over the world.
And the humans are portrayed as violent and amoral, indeed. But they defenitely aren't portrayed as stupid. And we can only speculate what we would do if we were living in the same world. If you just simply look at our current world. It's very much at peace right now and still we have so many acts of violence occurring all over the world.
That is kind of my point. We do what we have to do to survive. All species do the same. But only humans are portrayed as evil for ensuring their survival.
