Hi All,

Lets learn about the vegetable today as Ginger. Ginger is a flowering plant whose rhizome, ginger root or simply ginger, is widely used as a spice or a folk medicine. It is a herbaceous perennial which grows annual stems about a meter tall bearing narrow green leaves and yellow flowers.

How do you grow?
Soak the ginger root in warm water overnight to prepare for planting. Fill a shallow, wide plant pot (ginger roots grow horizontally) with rich, well-draining potting soil. Place the ginger root with the eye bud pointing up and cover it with 1-2 inches more of soil. Water lightly.

Ginger has a long history of use for relieving digestive problems such as nausea, loss of appetite, motion sickness and pain. The root or underground stem (rhizome) of the ginger plant can be consumed fresh, powdered, dried as a spice, in oil form or as juice.

How is it taste?
It is pale yellow in color and should have a pungent, spicy smell to indicate freshness. Ground ginger has a warm, spicy bite, is a little bit sweet, and is not as strongly flavored as fresh ginger. This spice cabinet ingredient is also not a direct substitute for fresh ginger

How it benefits?
Ginger is commonly used to treat various types of "stomach problems," including motion sickness, morning sickness, colic, upset stomach, gas, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), nausea, nausea caused by cancer treatment, nausea caused by HIV/AIDS treatment, nausea and vomiting after surgery, as well as loss weight.

Ground ginger is the dried, powdered form of Zingiber officinale, a root native to Southeast Asia, India and China. Cuisines around the world use ginger as an aromatic ingredient, and the spice also has a long history as a treatment for nausea, motion sickness, gas, bloating and other digestive complaints.

what if you eat too much?
Ginger is still used as an alternative medicine to treat nausea and vomiting; ginger ale, although it no longer contains much, if any, real ginger, was originally used for this reason to quiet stomach upset. However, if taken in large quantities, ginger can cause other stomach problems such as diarrhea.

Conversely, gingers cause stress, headaches, heartaches and uncontrollable urges to do something stupid.

You should use ginger along with meal and its not directly eatable which gives you heart burn too. If you add into boiled water and add some honey which will give you better.,

I always prefer to have ginger with honey. Try next time and let me know how you feel?
