The Philosophy of Simple Living | Simple Living Series

in #life5 years ago (edited)

Learning how to live simply, elegantly and naturally is and has been one of my foremost passions.

I tend to think it's more than a lifestyle, but a way of life.

I often look to books and articles to inspire and develop my own thoughts on how to live, and one of them is the L'art de la Simplicite.

I will share some excerpts which resonated with me in quotes (followed by my personal responses):

Mindfulness opens the door to immense reserves of creativity and intelligence.

Our energy is dissipated when our mind is overrun with thousands of unproductive and negative thoughts. It's like cherishing ugliness instead of beauty.

Give the smallest tasks your full and complete attention.

This is something I struggle with: doing JUST ONE thing at a time, and yet something that is so essential to our quality of life.

We should strive for complete focus in everything we do - reading a book etc.

Not thinking about the kids when at work, or about work when with the kids.

When we live and for the present, we do not experience tiredness. More often than not we are tired at the thought of what we have to do.

This is what truly hit home. It is sometimes worse contemplating the awfully long to do lists than to actually stop procastinating and get started!

Develop our ability to focus - what matters is what we are doing now, in the present.

It is like a muscle: the more you exercise it the stronger you get.

Do y'all do one thing at a time? And if y'all don't already, does this inspire you to simply, focus?

I would love to hear from you in the comments below! ❤️

nice post. i am thinking that often time people dont know the real effect of having a positive outlook as habit could bring lots of good things in life. i guess, if we always remember what truly matters in life, all the noise fades away much easily. ..

@danieldoughty Thanks for stopping by!! Yes, indeed, we need to be conscious, not to let molehills become mountains ((:

I have found that various meditation techniques helped me to sharpen my focusing abilities and allowed me to be present in the moment with my entire being, enjoy it too. Thank you for such a lovely read 💚

You're very welcome @zen-art <33
