Is SOCIAL MEDIA Destroying OUR LIVES????steemCreated with Sketch.

This topic is one topic I always wanted to talk about because I can't believe the difference between now and 30 years ago in this fast-growing technology world.
I was always a bit nervous to talk about this specific topic since I know people love their phones and the fast internet and how fast and easy it is to travel around the world. So this is just my opinion, and my mind speaking of HOW I FEEL about it because I know some people will strongly disagree with me and that is fine. I guess I just want to share my frustrations with this Social Media World we live in today, that in my opinion is DESTROYING OUR LIVES.

So while I was driving today in the morning I heard that in Hawaii there is a NEW LAW that when you are crossing the street, you can't be texting.

REALLY???
This is how this world runs now, making LAWS telling us people not to be driving or walking and texting at the same time because we are too stupid or just too addicted to these phones that we cannot think or do or live without them?

We don't have to do any thinking or remembering anything because the phone will think and do everything for us. I think this is exactly where the government wants us. Stuck, addicted and relying on the phones, so we don't have to think or do anything on our own but trust the ROBOTS telling us what to do, entertaining us with a bunch of lies since half of the things on the internet we don't even know are true.

Our minds become asleep, we can't make decisions on our own, we can't think on our own, we can't rest or relax because someone is always calling or texting we become a slave, a prisoner to that phone without us even knowing it or recognizing it.

I believe that people become stressed, depressed and unsocial while they are stuck staring at their phones. I see people everywhere hiding behind the phones and it really makes me very sad because it feels like I'm surrounded by SOCIAL MEDIA ZOMBIES. People don't talk to each other anymore, they don't look into each others' eyes, they don't listen to each other or have any real emotion or real connections between people. We have no time for each other or what it is important in our lives because we are too busy on social media LIVING THE LIVES OF OTHERS that we forget to live our lives. We don't live our lives because most people think the phone or the social media is their life and without it, they feel lost and don't know what to do with themselves.
Marriages are broken apart, families are broken apart, there is no respect or real love and carrying for each other and that is not a life I want to be part of.

It really makes me sad when I think that my two teenage boys will never experience the FREEDOM, HAPPINESS, FUN, JOY, NATURE like I did when I was a kid or teenager.
We had no phones, no computers, no social media telling us what we should look like, or what we should be eating or doing. We had 1 television in the house with 3 channels. Our cartoons were filled with love and laughter, not swearing, or fighting or killing and bad attitude.

We were outside kids, always having fun in the nature riding bikes, fishing, playing ball, we talked, we laughed, we joked, we walked everywhere. We had no toys or entertainment to entertain us, we always came up with something to do, we used our imagination, we were free, we went to the lakes or pools, we climbed on trees to get some cherries or apples, we enjoyed the simple life and it was STRESS-FREE life. There were no worries, we didn't sit inside the house waisting our lives by watching tv, or on a computer or be attached to the phone.
We went to the arkades to play games, we went to movie rentals to rent a movie, we wrote our bikes or walked everywhere, we had to find phone booths to phone home, we went to the library to look for answers or to rent books.

This is something my boys will never experience, which makes me want to cry. My boys were born to this fast pasted industry, surrounded with social media everywhere we go. They don't know what is like when the first DVD came out, or how fun it was to go rent a movie and watch it at home once every week because now they can watch from their phones or tv's any movie they want anytime they want. They don't know what was like to walk everywhere, we didn't need to do any extra exercise because we were out walking and doing things all the time. Our kids can't even touch their toes when they stretch, or run or walk very far because their bodies are not strong since they are driven everywhere they go, they don't go out because they are too busy at home on their phones or games or television.

I see moms get really excited when they buy a new car that has a DVD player in there so that their children can watch a movie and be quiet and entertained while they drive, and that is another thing we get brainwashed with and it drives me crazy. Instead of our kids enjoying the drive, looking around and spending time as a family, we want what is easy and confident.

Isn't enough that we watch so much television or social media at home that we have to have it with us 24/7 even when we are not home?
What happened to talking to each other, joking, having fun, singing and enjoying your kids and family?

WE ARE FAILING HUMANITY!!!

We care more about the social media than our families, our happiness, our lives.
We have to answer that phone, we can't leave the home without the phone, we have to text back to every text, we have to check what is going on around the world, what others are doing, how we can do things.
What about YOU? What about your needs? What about your health? What about what makes you happy? What about paying full attention to your loved ones and anyone around you? What about giving a helping hand? What about LOVE, JOY, HAPPINESS, LAUGHTER?

Why do we think the suicide rate is so high?
Why do we have so much stress, depression, and anxiety like never before?
Why is everyone dealing with health issues?
Why do we have so much shootings and so much killing?
Why are we so tired, unhappy and selfish?
Why do we always compare ourselves with others and make our lives miserable?

I believe these are results of how social media is destroying our lives and this is just how I see it by paying attention to people around me for the last 20 years and from my experiences.

I would do anything to go back to the old times, where yes, it was hard to travel, things were slower and harder to achieve, but people were happier, healthier, they had all the time for each other, they had fun, they respected each other, they helped each other, they were not stressed, everything had meaning and excitement, we drove the cars and enjoyed the drive, they enjoyed work and just enjoyed stress free life where people were not chasing that dollar or had to have all the toys to entertain us. In those days peope had nothing, but they used their imagination to have the time of their lives. They didn't use the phones to get ideas or answers but instead they used their heads and their imagination and they just did it.

Social media is fast and convenient, but this world is too fast as it is and that is why nothing has meaning anymore, nothing matters, everything is made fast and easy and doesn't last. There is no excitement anymore since we can do anything and everything we want at any time. I think we need to slow down and smell the flowers once in a while, pour some love on our loved ones and everyone and as for convenience, I don't think we need any more of that either. We have it too much as it is and it only makes us lazier, we don't want to do anything in our lives and just stay in our comfort zone which stops us from moving forward, changing and growing. I mean our kids don't even know how to wash the dishes or sweep the floor because of the convenience of the dishwasher etc.

Did you know that our bodies are made to live a very long time. There are so many people that lived well over their 100 years and most of them lived in the third world countries. My husbands' grandpa lived up to 120 + years. In the Bible times, people lived for more than 800 years. What is the secret you may ask?

Simple, healthy, stress-free life. The family would tell us that grandpa always took really good care of himself. He did what he loved, he was a farmer. He never chased that dollar, always enjoyed the life in nature, ate fresh healthy foods, none of this fake, junk foods filled with toxins, no stress, had lots of sleep and rest, lived his life. He would take care of his body by proceeding old Mayan health believes like the foods from nature and certain parts from different animals and so on.
Those days people were free, but had everything they needed to be happy and enjoy a stress-free life.

1 John 2:15-17

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world-the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions-is not from the Father but is from the world. And the word is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

1 Corinthians 6:12

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful.
All things are lawful for me, but I will not be enslaved by anything.

I really have a love and hate relationship with the Social Media, but as for me I know when to stop, when it is enough because I listen to my body but what is sad and what I hate about Social Media is that too many people don't know when it's enough and when to take a break and that is what is really sad because it is destroying and running their life without them even knowing.
What I like about Social Media is that it gives me the opportunity to work from home and I also love listening to my spiritual channel every morning, but otherwise you will not see me on Social Media.

Hello & Cheers!! I'm a content detection and information bot. You are receiving this reply because a short link or links have been detected in your post/comment. The purpose of this message is to inform your readers and yourself about the use of and dangers of short links.

To the readers of the post: Short links are provided by url shortening services. The short links they provide can be useful in some cases. Generally their use is benign. But as with all useful tools there are dangers. Short links can be used to hide all sorts of things. Quite frequently they are used to hide referral links for instance. While not dangerous this can be deceptive. They can also be used to hide dangerous links such as links to phishing sites, sites loaded with malware, scam sites, etc. You should always be extremely cautious before clicking on one. If you don't know and trust the poster don't click. Even if you do you should still be cautious and wary of any site you are sent to. It's always better to visit the site directly and not through a short link.

To the author of the post: While short links may be useful on some sites they are not needed on steemit. You can use markdown to format your links such as this link to steemit. It's as simple as [steemit](https://steemit.com) Unlike short links this allows the reader to see where they are going by simply hovering over the link before they click on it.

This message was created by a bot. It is part of the ongoing fight against spam and phishing attacks on steemit. If you did not use short links in your post and feel you have received this message in error you can contact @fubar-bdhr on discord or @fubar.bdhr on steemit chat to report the issue.

Thank you so much for letting me know. I had no idea.
