This is a legend of German origin, many years ago in a small town hidden behind the snowy mountains of Germany, A whole village prepared to receive Christmas, the preparations for the holidays were a great event, the house had to be clean and Presentable, all the inhabitants were dedicated to cleaning and ordering their homes, each member of the family had an obligation to fulfill, some cleaned the floors, other ceilings and another dedicated to decorate the house with Christmas decorations.

In some of these houses someone neglected his work and not clean as it was, behind a large picture of the grandfather, a group of harmless spiders were hidden for several months, very intelligent spiders, had studied the movement of the house and noticed That this painting was never cleaned, being a safe place to make their nests with cloths of spiders, the very skilled ones looked for the best place of the house, the dining room of the domicile.
Spiders with long legs and thin bodies always stood out among the other spiders for their intelligence, the very cunning ones remained in the dining room in complete silence, from where they could observe the whole movement of the house.
The little spiders lived their happy days, watched with great enthusiasm the revolution of the house, perceived a great event, not knowing that destiny had great changes for them.
The housewife began to make a general inspection of the cleaning, saw in the dining room some traces of dust, that was a reason for a cleaning operation, began to run furniture, clean under the chairs, under the vase, behind the sideboard, The smart spiders saw her coming, knew that the place was no longer safe and organized a prompt retreat, they did at the right time, seconds later the hostess ran the grandfather's picture and began to clean the place, frightened spiders But happy to make the decision in time, watched from the ceiling as the very furious housewife eagerly cleaned the spider webs that I work so hard to build.
On the 8th of December, the family was happy to begin the assembly of the tree, the whole family gathered to this great event, the spiders watched from the hiding place and the great uproar, a beautiful Christmas tree the housekeepers armed , Full of ornaments, little stars and wooden dolls.
The very happy spiders watched the happy family, the father the mother, the children and some neighbors, enjoying a great celebration, they sang, they laughed, the party lasted until three in the morning, where everyone went to sleep.
This way the days of party went on until the day of December 24, that night the spiders had the best place to observe the party organized by the family, great enthusiasm and happiness of all the members of the house, went and came neighbors to Greeting and sharing a toast, singing, dancing, listening to music, the Christmas tree was more beautiful than ever, the spiders were very happy with what they saw their eyes, are eager to see that beauty.
The party continued for a while longer past three in the morning, where all the people went to sleep.
When the house was completely silent, the spiders approached the beautiful tree, enthusiastic began to walk the tree, visited each ornament, walked through the whole tree from top to bottom, not giving a single ornament without being visited, Very happy they jumped from one side to the other enjoying the precious little tree, as they passed leaving their thick silk threads, it was so much the commotion they made, they ended up covering the tree with their thick spider webs.

The spiders were so focused on enjoying the little tree that they did not hear that Santa Claus was coming down the chimney, when Santa Claus approached the Christmas tree, he could see that the tree was full of spiders, the ornaments were covered with spider webs.
Santa Claus watched the happy spiders walk through the Christmas tree, looking to feel a lot of tenderness for the spiders, after all Christmas were also for the animals.
Santa Claus came as close as he could to the spiders and smiling asked if they wanted to live forever in the Christmas tree, the spiders very happy answered yes. Santa Claus made the Christmas magic and turned them into beautiful golden ornaments and spider webs in beautiful shiny silver garlands, giving color and joy to the beautiful Christmas tree.
This is the explanation of why the Germans buy and decorate Christmas decorations with spider-like decorations and long ribbons that run through the Christmas tree, this ornamentation makes them in commemoration of this beautiful legend.
