A day like today, but in 1609, the City of San Ignacio Guazu was founded in the Republic of Paraguay. Founded by the Jesuit priests Marcial de Lorenzana and Francisco de San Martín, guided by Cacique Arapysandú, where an altar was erected and the first mass was offered.
Father Roque González organized the foundation, creating the Jesuit center of the Missions in Paraguay.
It is believed that soccer as a sport was invented by the Guarani in this city.
