Weekly Nature Walk #4
Most weekends my two sons (6 and 8)and I go to the woods and explore.
We have been doing this for about a year now.
I will document our adventures here.
This week we set ourselves a challenge of finding 'Rebellious Roots'.
We went off the beaten path again and it still amazes me that we find new undiscovered places.
Today we stumbled upon this hidden gem.
It was a secluded part of the wood with a very magical atmosphere.
Anyway we had a good 'root' around. ( And the 2018 Comedy Pun award goes to.........)
The wood is on sandstone which erodes easily over the years.
This creates some very interesting effects.
Some can look quite alien or an ' alien octopus' according to my boys.
The journey was perilous, not to mention arduous, but onwards we explored.
At some points you get the sense you may get caught by them!
We delved deep in to the woods this week and became weary.
A gentle pace was all we had left in us to get back to the car.
Feel free to follow our adventures.
I would have taken these photos with my Kodak Pixpro AZ401 but I forgot to put new batteries in! Therefore I took them on my phone.
Thanks for reading,
@jist
I can't wait to be able to do stuff like this with my grandson........... awesome stuff my friend....
Thanks Man, it is great fun.
What a wonderful thing to do with your kids! Nature is the best. :)
Thanks, yes we do a nature walk every week. Nature is definitely the best.
Hahaha nice @Jist back at the woods again. I hope you and the boys had a good day.
Where do you live? Im curious because those pictures are cool, I don't think it's the UK.
Are they any animals to be weary of in those woods?
In the UK we had some people release dangerous animals like panthers when the law made is illegal. My father saw one and pee'd his pants when he was a lad.
Thanks Man. It is a top secret location in the UK with some animals apart from my sons but the noise scares them off. I saw a black panther ( I think ) when I was a kid, so I know what you mean.
Good on you @jist! Those boys will be old men and still recall that. Many blessings to you
Thank you. It is important for them to have fond memories growing up and they are learning.
Kudos to you for fostering a love of nature in your boys.
My grandparents use to take my sisters and me camping in the Rocky Mountains, when we were kids, and those are still to this day among my favorite memories.
Thanks, it is good for us in so many ways.
