What It Means To Be Truly Self Confident
There has been a lot of talk lately about what it means to be truly self-confident. I have listened to these conversations and debates with a lot of different people. To be honest, I have never really understood the question.
Everyone has different reasons why they feel confident. For some people, it is the result of growing up in a particular setting. For others, it is the result of working their way through college or working their way through business school. Still, many people feel very confident at one time or another, even when they were very young.
As you are growing up, you probably did not know how to express yourself much at all. When you were young, the first thing that you had to do to make yourself feel good was to act like a kid and have fun. It sounds simple, but it is not the best way to express yourself. You need to find ways that will help you express yourself more effectively.
What does it mean to be truly self-confident? In general, confidence means being able to put the right emotion behind what you say and do. So if you are saying something and having a great time, but you are not feeling self-confident about it, you should be able to recognize that and not engage in it further.
Self-confidence in your area of expertise is also important. If you are really good at something, you will probably have a reputation for yourself. People will notice you and this may make you feel good as well. If you have a reputation, you can gain confidence when you make a good presentation, when you give a well-written report, or even when you are just talking with someone new.
In fact, just by engaging in conversation with someone you might not even be interested in could be a huge confidence boost. Remember, you are not the speaker or the person who is having the conversation. You are the one who is going to have to be who you are and that you might be someone interesting enough to take interest in. Even just reading things off a piece of paper or from a notebook can cause you to gain confidence.
You may also feel more comfortable with something that you do when you are receiving some positive feedback as well. When you are trying something out and find that it is working well, you should be able to recognize that and then even think about doing it again in the future. Positive feedback is also a great way to help you stay on track and improve your confidence.
These are just a few ideas of what it means to be truly self-confident. Of course, you would not be asking this question if you were not self-confident. Once you feel comfortable about who you are and what you are doing, you will be able to feel more confident about everything you do.
I've always struggled with self confidence and still do. I´m 23 and I´m still figuring out some things and working my way to be a better person and more confident of myself.
One area where I feel like I have accomplished it is when I'm around a volley ball, or anything related with Volleyball. I can only assume it is as you mentioned because I know I´m good and one of the best at it. And that´s the feeling I want to achieve in other personal areas of my life, because it is that way that I feel more like myself and not only fulfilling my "role" in society.
I'm a fake it till you make it girl. The more I pretend to love myself, the easier it gets.
