LOST IN THOUGHTS

Do you imagine a world where people are more empathetic and sincere....

The present reality scares you because day by day, the horrendous behaviours of men surprise you. How your fellow humans don't count to ten to erode an (innocent) person's self-esteem and reduce his hustle to nothingness.

You can imagine how scarce succor can be and that we almost have to learn to nurse our pain, dry our eyes, blow out our nose and look away many times by ourselves.

The woman entered the bus despite the Conductor drumming it into the entrants ears that he had no single change. About a minute after, Conductor asked the woman and the new entrants for their fare and the woman gave him 500 NGN note and the Conductor reminds her of his instruction before she entered.

Instead of remorse or precious silence, she verbally attacked the Conductor. Reminding him of how without people like her, he won't be on the road. She calls him a fool and all manner of demeaning words.

Conductor in defense said to her that God will purnish her.

She increases her momentum. Looking sideways in her roll looking for someone who'd nod in agreement.

She tells the man tha he's an illitrate. How he could not go to common school. She also added that God was purnishing him with the Conductor role.

All the while, I pitied the Conductor. I wish I could just find a way to let him know that his hustle is valid and is no crime. I wish I could let the woman know that if she answered the Conductor's call, then she was his client and if you are what you buy, you have no basis to ridicule the seller of what you're paying for.

People like that woman can be found in our homes, schools and work places. They wreck your self worth; they insult you for unimaginable reasons and you feel like ash and start asking a battery of questions about your hustle, strength and how a little privilege would have made the difference.

You, on another hand, may be unaware that the human insulting you is in a more worrisome doldrum than you are but because they hammered you in your own territory, they feel like conquerors and you worthless.

Cheer up.

Do not change your ways because of people like her.
