We finally got our washing machine fixed.
Several months ago our washer, dryer, oven, stove and microwave all broke.
It was probably due to some kind of electrical surge.
We really wanted to have an electrician come and check on that but they all gave us a really expensive price and said it was extremely complicated to check that kind of thing.

Looking inside the dryer we found a piece that look really frayed.
It was connected to a little latch thing that activated when the lid closed to make the water drain.
It had connections sort of like the inside of your computer.
We bought a new part for a few dollars and crossed our fingers.
We were all very happy to see that with a bit of elbow grease and some old school figuring we were able to remove the old piece and connect the new one.
We didn't want to hold our breath but fortunately it worked.

We now have a working washer and the dryer seems to have mysteriously begin working again as well.
The only problem is the incrediblly strong mildew smell that both of them have right now. I don't know if it's going to go away in time or if we need to clean them out with something.
I'm sure it will be fixed eventually but I'm very glad not to have to go to the laundromat anymore.

congratulations
You can buy Washing machine soap, that is suppose to kill the mildew but if it is strong it can take more than one dose. You can also use Vinegar that is what I suggest. 1 cup to a cycle of hot water. If it smells afterwards do it again, it is a lot cheaper than that soap.
Thanks. I think I will try the vinegar thing out.
Congratulations! @jeezzle
I can relate to that, in the past few months my home hot water system tank blew out from corrosion, I had some big unexpected medical costs and now my fridge and dishwasher are in the way out. I guess we should be thankful to even have these conveniences but it still isn't much fun.
My roommate is fond of saying that we should be thankful that we have running water but I wish I was taking pretty girls out on dates instead of spending my money fixing up things after working all day and then eating lunchmeat or ramen. Such is life my friend. Thanks for commenting.
Congrats @jeezzle , those things are very important
Yahoooooo
Congratulation
I live in an apartment so I'm jealous of anyone with a washing machine.
