Fitness Blog # 3 (how to boost your metabolism)

Hello steemians. This is your guy JBN with Fitness Blog # 3 in which I will tell you about what is metabolism, why is it necessary to boost metabolism (doesn’t matter if you are bulking up or shredding) and finally how to boost your metabolism.

If you have just landed on this post, then I suggest you must read my Fitness Blog # 1 and Fitness Blog # 2 that contain some of the pre-requisites of what I am going to discuss today..

What is Metabolism and why is it necessary to have high metabolism

Metabolism is the rate at which your food gets digested. Thats it. The rule, that should be followed by people who are either trying to bulk up or shred, is that for transformation, your metabolism needs to be high. It will help you digest your food at a faster rate. So if you are trying to bulk up, you will get hungry within 3-4 hours after taking a meal and empty stomach will blow the sirens, warning you to feed it again. Feeding the stomach 5-6 times a day with clean diet will seriously bulk you up.

On the other hand, if you are shredding and feeling hungry due to high metabolism, you can eat some vegetables to calm down the stomach but your body needs energy and those cucumbers / salad leaves aren’t gonna cut it. So your body, being an incredibly intelligent entity, will start breaking and burning your existing fats and carbs to provide you with energy. Thats how you will lose weight.

How to boost Metabolism

That is one excellent question but unfortunately, people without any verification start taking useless junk to speed up their metabolism. That is not required at all. Infact thats unhealthy and will cause serious stomach disorders. Powerful, jacked, shredded humans with high metabolism have lived on this earth, long before there was any medicine and you can do that too without meds and supplements.

There is a very simple formula for boosting your metabolism and it is twofold :-

THE FIRST THING IS “doing exercise with intensity”. Now most people will take intensity as heavy weight lifting. No Sir.. I am taking about intensity. You have to force yourself in gym to burn yourself out with a little more intensity than normal people (even if you are using 2 KGs dumbbells or just starting out in gym). For that to happen you must take minimum rest between sets and you must try to reach failure point in each set. You must be focused, dedicated and fully honest with yourself.

"What does intensity have to do with achieving high metabolism?"
There is a science behind it that involves lungs being exposed to more oxygen causing your cells to work harder and bla bla bla.. (If you are interested in more info then you can read about technical terms of this phenomenon by simple search on google or you can reach me on facebook and i will gladly tell you. I personally decided to exclude the technical info since my blog is not about flashy terms and useless facts. Its about reaching out to normal people who just want to begin their transformation.)
You won’t remember these technical terms. What you will and should remember is that you have to go to gym and burn yourself out with intensity in about 40 minutes timeframe. With every passing week, increase your intensity a bit along with stacking up weight plates as you gain strength and you will see results in few weeks (depending upon your body type and genes).
P.S. this info is valid if you are just starting out at gym. Your gym routine wont remain intensified all the time. But i will come to that later in my blog about how exercises should be done and how they should be varied from time to time for optimum results

THE SECOND PART of achieving high metabolism is "Eating the right diet”. The best part about my fitness blog or my fitness regime is that you don’t have to miss out on delicious food like those famous fitness people tell you to do. For me, body building or keeping yourself fit should remain within the grasp of every human and if it involves you taking so much protein, supplement powders and meds then i am sorry, this is not humane at all.

So what is this right diet that i am referring to? Except for these 7 things, you can eat anything:-

  1. Coke/ coke zero / Any soft carbonated drink
  2. Sugar (you can take light sugar with your coffee and tea but avoid eating tons of cake and chocolate that has dirty sugar, the one that will not burn and will turn into fat)
  3. All purpose flour ( must take whole wheat flour)
  4. Excessive oil (the less the better)
  5. Junk food (McDonald's menu, KFC menu, zingers, fries or any such items available in fast food chains. Actually the problem here is not the food itself. Its the way these food chains prepare the food. They include some sort of starch in it to keep it crispy and tastier for longer time period but it is hazardous for you. If you want, you can make burgers at home and et them, which is absolutely fine)
  6. Excessive Cheese ( the kind that a loaded pizza has on it )
  7. And finally, you must avoid using excessive commercial products like ice creams, chocolates, packed juices, packed milk cartons etc (natural food always triumphs commercial genetically modified food.

Even though i said that you can eat anything except the above mentioned items, while that is true, you must still expose yourself towards vegetables and fruits. These things have some excellent nutrition that will propel your metabolism real fast real quick... but like always, there is a way and time to take these items. Excess of everything is bad. And one must follow a balanced diet. In my blog # 5 i will tell you how to craft your diet plans and then we will move on to exercise part.

Conclusion

I wanted to include some other aspects of diet and exercises in this blog but this has become wayyyy too long and i dont want to bore my readers to death. So i decided to include these topics in fitness blog # 4, which will come out either tomorrow or day after tomorrow.
