They had talked a lot about them a few weeks ago. On April 10, two young French hackers claimed to have got their hands on the YouTube account of the American platform Vevo, which manages the videos of the most popular international artists. According to the American magazine Variety, they were arrested in Paris, without it being specified when, by the French authorities who conducted the investigation alongside the New York police.

Many artists affected

Among their victims are the singer Luis Fonsi, a performer of Despacito, whose clip has been viewed more than five billion times. It is today the most viewed video in YouTube's history. During the hacking, the video was removed from the platform, before being put online a few hours later. Other accounts had been affected, such as those of Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez or Shakira. The information placed under the videos had been replaced by messages of support for Palestine.

The two hackers, who are known under the pseudonyms "Prosox" and "Kuroi'ish", risk big. In particular, they are accused of fraudulently introducing data into an automated processing system. In France, the penalty is five years imprisonment and 75,000 euros fine.
