Exploring the Marianna Caverns
When people think of Florida, they think of beaches, pine trees, and retirement homes. Caves are not usually the first thing that comes to mind. But Florida is full of caves! Since Florida's bedrock is composed of porous limestone, there is a unique underground water system running throughout most of the state, leaving underground caves, and unfortunately for some residents, creating the occasional sinkhole.
Florida Caverns Park in Marianna is the only State Park that offers tours of an air-filled (not underwater) cave. My wife and I visited yesterday and I thought I'd share some of our pictures with you all.
It's interesting to think as you walk around the park...
...that this is under your feet.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures! Don't forget to resteem and follow!
