The Curious Life of John McAfee - He's not dumb for doing it, we're dumb for listening.

In case anyone's been under a rock and hasn't witnessed XVG's meteoric rise to 0.00002000 BTC this week, don't worry, it's back at 0.00000962. You didn't miss a thing!

In the crazy world of Alt Coins, even a crazy old man can pump the living hell out of a coin. XVG is a perfect example of why this sector can be so scary - nobody knows what they're talking about.

TL;DR  AVOID in the coming weeks: HM, DGB, KWHCoin, RDD, Burst, Sether, SAFEX, XMR, ZEC, XVG

Just a single text from John McAfee is all it took. But my question is, why did anyone listen?

I need to be honest, I didn't know much about John before I wrote this article. I'm a millennial who grew up in the 90's who has associated the McAfee name with incompetence for as long as I can remember - I never took any time to learn about the man behind the failure. After this whole fiasco, I did a little reading, and the results did not surprise me at all.

McAfee's Backstory

" McAfee, 71, is best known for developing antivirus software in the 1980s that bears his name and helping to pioneer instant-messaging in the 1990s. He says he wrote the antivirus program “in a day and a half” and that “4 million people were using it within a month.”

He sold his shares in the software company in the mid-90s, and reportedly made $100 million, though McAfee told ABC News his fortune was worth “much more.” But, he added, “I wasted it, like everybody who has money.”

McAfee built nine homes, filling them with expensive art, furniture and oddities, such as a dinosaur skull, and he bought a fleet of planes and antique cars. He created a yoga retreat in Colorado that hosted 200 guests at a time and set up a center in New Mexico for a new sport called aero-trekking. But then the recession hit McAfee hard and in 2009, he said he liquidated his assets, and several of his properties and possessions were auctioned off. But he later said he didn’t lose his all of his fortune, and had set up the auctions to try to fool the media. "

Thank you to ABC (Source) for setting the scene.

Un-Belizable Scam: Quorumex

In Belize, McAfee tried to get into the BioPharm field. McAfee, a software developer, thought he could jump on a plane, cut up some plants, and somehow leave with a panacea that would make him millions. He claimed he found a miracle antibitoic in the Belize (Belizean?) jungle, and he was going to bring it to America with the help of Allison Adonizio. Take a look at this Gizmondo article from 2010 - It's as ridiculous as it sounds.

They came up with their first product: Triple Qx

" Topic-Qx is Quorumex's first product, a topical solution of plant materials containing purported anti-quorum sensing properties. It's green, smells like mouthwash, and stings when applied. Dr. Adonizio later explains bashfully that the sting is from the alcohol in which the plant matter is suspended.  "

He drug lab was eventually raided for a suspected meth operation. They didn't find anything, but McAfee claims it was related to his choice to not support a political candidate.

Fake Heart Attack: Get out of Jail Free Card

McAfee was catapulted to the headlines again in November 2012. This time Belizean authorities linked him to a more serious crime, naming him "a person of interest" in the mysterious slaying of 52-year-old Gregory Faull, a U.S. man who was McAfee’s neighbor two doors down from McAfee’s beachside compound. McAfee went into hiding, telling ABC News at the time he was afraid the authorities were trying to kill him.

He has denied any involvement in Faull's death. After being on the run for almost a month, McAfee was arrested in Guatemala by Guatemalan immigration officials for entering the country illegally.

He was about to be deported back to Belize when he collapsed. McAfee later said he had faked a heart attack.“Sure, I faked it,” he said. “What would you have done?”

John McAfee has pushed this stock up 700%! : MTG MTG MTG

But in 2016,  McAfee found himself as the CEO of a publicly traded company. MGT (MGT), a penny stock that has several online and mobile gaming units, brought McAfee on board back in May 2016.

Shares were trading at 36 cents per share, but soared to $5.58 after a series of aggressive press releases in his first week as CEO. When questioned about the incredible volatility of his stock, McAfee eased investors with a tweet, saying

" I'm in this company for the long haul. Announcements coming in a couple of weeks."

He also retweeted a comment from someone who declared that he's "more powerful than Bill Gates and Steve Jobs!" I'm glad that McAfee thinks he can quell shareholder concerns with "announcements" and PR massaging.

I guess I'll post the Alex Jones clip to really drive my point home..

John McAfee in 2018

Why are we still listening to a practically-convicted fraudster? John McAfee hasn't produced anything of value since the 1980's. He's been trying to get back in the limelight ever since he cashed out too early in the mid-90's.

John McAfee has been trying to get back into the limelight since 1995. He's tried biopharm schemes, running fro president, manipulating a company's stock price through the media, and new he's on cryptocoins.

The only difference now is that the average crypto-investor doesn't realize the sheer level of incompetence McAfee possesses. Don't get me wrong, it's great that  someone in the mainstream media was talking about alt-coins, but let's be a little smarter in who we tie our boats to going forward.

The Proof is in the Pudding: ENG

I rest my case!

That being said, here are my few picks to AVOID in the coming weeks: HMQ  DGB KWHCoin RDD Burst Sether SAFEX XMR ZEC XVG
