Hello Steemit - I'm back ;) with a new lease on life!
It has been a quite some time since I've posted an article on Steemit, due to many reasons (None of them bad though). My family and I took some time off over the festive period and then it was back to work, work, work, but I have some good news for myself on that front …
First of all, I know it is a bit late, but to all of you reading this All the best for 2017! I hope it is a great year for all of us.
So, during my holiday, I took some time to think about the direction I want to take my career in, and I am proud to announce that I have resigned from my full time position at a corporate, and I will be joining my partner in our own entity QuadroIT on a full time basis.
It is a massive step but also one of the most exciting steps I have taken in my life..
So many things happened
It took some time catching up on all that happened during the last month or so that I did not do much posting.
Steemit Roadmap
Although I have not been writing a lot. I still made sure to keep abreast with the developments here and I am very excited about the future of Steemit especially for 2017. The roadmap made it very clear that the guys are ready to build a serious capability into the Steem blockchain and Steemit Inc.
The first thing that caught my eye was the statement:
"Physical Decentralization: a global team headquartered on the Internet."
I just love that :)
I believe the decisions of what needed to be prioritized in the road map was very hard decisions, as we are many participants, which need to be satisfied with the roadmap. All and all I believe great decisions was taken and I want to congratulate the team on publishing the roadmap.
In my opinion the worst decisions are normally those decisions which are not taken at all!
I am not a crypto currency specialist at all, but have noticed that the Steem price seems to be stable around 0,15 and 0,16. It does drop every so often, but for me this is a nice foundation to build on top of.
Steem Saturday
QuadroIT, which I am now a proud Director of :) sponsored the first Steem Saturday in South Africa, and one of our priorities is to build out the Steem community step by step. We would love to invite anybody who are interested in hosting a Steem Saturday in tier country, to please contact me via direct message on Steemit Chat. The first Steem Saturday was a great success, even better than we expected, so let's keep on building on that. We are planning another Steem Saturday in South Africa, and we are also in discussions with various other African countries.
So what next - QuadroIT?
QuadroIT will be specialising in what we know best - Software Development, Delivering IT Solutions for large entities etc. with specific focus on Africa. We need to do this to ensure we build a sustainable business… and that we NEVER have to work for corporates again (Say I after being involved in the corporate game for too long. I read a good quote from Ross Perot the other day, now that we are referring to Corporate … I believe it is a very good summary :)
I come from an environment where, if you see a snake, you kill it. At GM, if you see a snake, the first thing you do is go hire a consultant on snakes. Then you get a committee on snakes, and then you discuss it for a couple of years. The most likely course of action is -- nothing. You figure, the snake hasn't bitten anybody yet, so you just let him crawl around on the factory floor. We need to build an environment where the first guy who sees the snake kills it. - Ross Perot
Blockchain Development and Crypto Currency
One of the key new areas which QuadroIT will be focusing on is Blockchain Development and Crypto Currency. One of our aims is to ensure that we get Steem, as a currency, more widely used on the African Continent. We have been working on a few opportunities for the past few months...All I can say for now is :
Watch this space … time for disruption in Africa on a massive scale is near …
But more on that in a follow up post.
For now I just wanted to say hi to everybody on the platform, I really missed everybody in the time that I have not been writing articles, and I will surely start writing more frequently again.
