I heard a rumor last week that Liberland was interested in accepting OK Cash for donations to the funding of its foundation. Liberland, the 2 year old country-to-be founded on disputed land between Serbia and Croatia, the country founded on Libertarian principles, and has a beer named after it, now considering OK Cash for micropayments and donations. In November of 2016 Liberland’s President, Vit Jedlicka, spoke with Cointelegraph about the state of its currency plans. At that time he said he felt bitcoin was the future of international trade and would be Liberland’s main choice for store of value while also keeping 20% of its reserves in Gold. They were also keeping an eye on Dash, but in general it sounded like the conversation of crypto currencies was invited.

Near Liberland are the towns of Osijek & Baranja. They are benefiting from the recent events because while people can come to the area, they can not technically enter Liberland. Croatian police hinder attempts to cross the Danube, so nearby towns financially benefit from the curious visitors and meet ups. These areas are the first to be feeling the economic impact of a Libertarian minded movement

Currently the number of Liberland citizens is under a hundred, but receives over 2,000 applications for citizenship a week. When the legal hurdles are overcome and the economic rewards are realized, the country of Liberland looks to join nations such as Monaco and Liechtenstein as financial havens for the world’s financial elite. A nation with such fiscal aspirations would benefit from a currency with liquidity, fungibility, and history of innovation. What would it mean for Liberland to adopt OK Cash? How does this affect investors in OK Cash? Which is more real at this time, the intangible coin or the intangible country?

Liberland is currently a movement of ideals. President Jedlicka and citizens continue to make their cause known around the world. And while some dismiss the discussion as a dream, that is precisely part of the argument in favor of Liberland. Jedlicka has said in several interviews that a country exists because we want to believe it exists. People believe in Liberland to the tune of of a couple thousand applicants a month for citizenship. It’s got backing of bitcoin billionaire investors, and its president continues to makes appearances at global events.

People continue believing in OK Cash. 72 million coins are in circulation. Over 98 thousand Addresses with 15 thousand accounts staking more than 1000 coins in over 32 countries. Could Liberland be 33. OKToshi and his team continue to develop a coin that will be easy to use on a variety of devices and a number of uses. To be honest I don’t know who OK Cash’s competition is. They are taking on GameCredits & Digibytes by appealing to game developers. They are taking on Dash be creating easy to use payment options. They are taking on Bitcoin, Ethereum, & Litecoin by continuing to be an affordable crypto investment and store of value.

So what happens when a country recognizes and embraces crypto as it’s prefered form of economic exchange? While larger nations seem more concerned with how they will be able regulate Altcoins, Liberland wants to empower Altcoins into mainstream economics. They would need a reliable infrastructure robust enough to adapt to the demands of an innovative nation. How does one measure it’s GDP? How does it pay it’s government employees? Does it need to? Will Liberland change it’s name along the journey the way OKCash did? Will the country only be courting the financially set and therefor the story is of no real interest to everyday jan and joe who are just looking to buy a coffee with crypto. Is this the calling song for all those looking to found their own nation? This one is already on it’s way up, so this might be one’s chance to buy a share of something historic. Whatever happens for the dozen or so official citizens of Liberland and their economic goals, OKCash already seems to be standing strong. If the rumors are true, it sounds like good news for both Liberland and Ok Cash.

President of Liberland is my real friend. This article greatly delighted me.

What really - lol. Is that "project" still ongoing? I was thinking the authorities were ending it.

Stay tuned at Facebook. Project is still alive. :) https://www.facebook.com/liberland

I guess not.

You serious? Interesting efforts indeed!
