We are all a "trend-follow" Bot on Steemit - Why the steemit survival idealogy is totally bullshit

in #life6 years ago (edited)

This may end up to be just a 10 minutes rant or may be a critical analysis of the adverse effect of our daily actions on steemit.

For couple of days I have sat down to make adequate research on the "modulus oprandi" of steemit.

Steemit has lots of soul winning objectives but gradually its focus is swayed away by the existence of some factors; some of which are inevitable while most are preventable.

Here are some of the pain points of steemit

Contents

Before steemit I have been a blogger/writer for some high ranking sites (especially in Africa), we know how important a site content is to both readers, advertisers and potential investors.

Steemit seems to have broken this norm and pride the blockchain with articles/writeups with little or no value.

To be honest its quite disheartening to see posts that lack value earning ridiculous amount of attention either because they are from a well-know steemian or they were made trending by bidding bots and humans follow suit.

Content appreciation is somehow bashful here, good authors lose up more often because we the "trend-follow" bot make them feel they are not good enough.

Earnings

What is actually the ultimate earning determinant on steemit???
Many unhealthy factors are in play here and seem to be in favour of some class of steemians.

Sometimes I wonder if steemit is indeed a decentralized platform or just one other avenue where Plutocracy flex its muscles.

Productivity

Would you agree less that it all feels like we are all revolving in circles?

In every corner is repeated results, repeated events, repeated success stories, repeated ideas etc

Everything here seems reoccurring very fast and sometimes this gets pretty boring.

This is simply because we are all a "trend-follow" Bot on Steemit.

We all just want to be on the trending page or at least be a friend to someone who is there.
All we do is to follow a single trend repeatedly, leaving no space for innovation and exploration.

How then do we grow or grow others

Conclusion

This blockchain needs some sort of revolution, It needs ways to attract the attention of all users, advertisers and investors.

At the end, this may just be a worthless rant

Excellent well written post. I agree with your perspectives absolutely.

Bad written and low quality posts are the ones dominating the trending pages here. Many of the new comers are using bidding bots thereby flooding the trending pages with their undeserving posts and the good posts are having hard time trying to get noticed. Let's face the fact, few people (or whales rather) read the minnows posts to upvote the good ones. They prefer upvoting other whales posts in what seems to be a mutual benefit.

My point exactly...

This should be worked on

It can certainly be disheartening to see shitty memes raking in $$$, when you put a lot of thought and effort into something that barely rates a few pennies.

True.

Creativity gradually is gradually fading here
