Christmas Eve bike exploration

in #life4 years ago

It's not a white Christmas over here in Thailand unless you get in the freezer or go to one of the very few indoor winter simulators they have in this country (yes, this is a real thing.) However, my school lets the teachers have Christmas off so I went on a bit of a longer explore today. I found a few cool things. Let's see if anyone else agrees.

We'll start with this wonderful little house I found on a hillside in the jungle. This person will be a bit secluded but they have dedicated a lot of the structure to a large porch, which would be a great place to sit because on 3 sides of their property they have an unobstructed view of the valleys below. I don't know if i would like that sort of seclusion but i suppose they aren't that far away from civilization because I made it there on my bicycle relatively easy.

I have been told that these houses are pre-fabricated and can come in a variety of shapes and layouts. I don't know a great deal about the construction process but it looks nice. I'd live in one!

This came before I found the house. Because I sweat a lot in the Thailand heat i drink electrolytes while riding. All the brands are essentially the same thing in the packet but I had to get this brand because I can't believe there is a product named "KKK". Obviously this has nothing to do with the Ku Klux Klan but I found it funny anyway. I knew they were getting their funding from somewhere but all this time it turns out it was hydration supplements in Asia.

I've been posting a bit about cheap Thai food lately so I figured I'd let people know that I don't do that all the time. This "splurge" cost me about $8 and it was just fantastic. Years ago a friend told me that peanut butter on a burger was the best thing ever. They had that as an option here so I gave it a go. I gotta say that I am less than dazzled. I don't really think the peanut butter adds much to the experience and I probably wouldn't opt to have it again in the future.

This last shot is just showcasing the Thai sense of humor in the bathroom. This is quite typical in places that cater to foreigners.

All in all it was a good day out. I rode about 40km, saw another new part of the suburbs, and I got a Christmas luxury burger and some brewskis. I suppose I do feel a little nostalgic about how my family is getting together back in the states and I am not with them... but you can keep your snow and low temperatures really. :)
