It's pretty much the story of 90% of tech support reps. We had only a small senior support group and 2 IT's for the whole building. Getting into Tier2 is not easy, let alone become a software developer/tester. -That's one reason not to feel bad. It's just the law of supply and demand. Nonetheless, your hardwork will eventually pay off if you're sure you want that position. I remember what I read from a book, saying that jobhunting is in itself, a full-time job. Whether you get hired or not, you'll perform better in the next application. I know it's costly but a full-time job means processing at least an application everyday.
