Back in my primary school days, I was taught in my social studies classes that a family is a group of people who are closely related by blood, like father, mother, children, uncles, aunties etc. But as I grew up and came in contact with real life experiences, I came to discover that family goes beyond blood relationship. In fact in some cases, those who are not related to us by blood tend to be more close to us than those who we have a connection by blood.
So in my own words, I would define family as a group of people who are closely related and united by the same purpose, mission, work etc and might not necessarily be related by blood
The word united was used in my definition because without unity no family of any kind can stand and make any progress. Unity of target is the force that keeps a family going despite setbacks and road blocks because there is target they are all aiming at achieving.

Every family member has a role to play in the family if it must remain as one and to continue making any progress. I will briefly highlight some of these responsibilities.
Responsibilities Of Each Family Member
To Love
True love among family members is a necessity if the family must be one. True love is the number one responsibility of every family member because it is on this basis that unity can be established. When love is not present in a family, hatred will be in play which will lead to misunderstanding in the family which in turn will hinder progress.
To Share
Everyone in the family has a role of sharing with each other. This sharing cuts across finance, counsel, ideas and many more. This is necessary because everyone has something to offer to his or her fellow.
To Comfort
There will be times of sorrow and pain that might come across a member of the family. So, there will be need for comforting words from other family members to that one that is in pains and anguish of heart.
To Correct
No one is perfect, so there might be times of one making mistakes but it is the responsibility of other family members to correct that person. And that correction must be done in love to avoid causing offenses.
