Why You Can’t Give Up. A Note That Saved Me From Depression.
I was once on the brink of depression.
I had just received news that an application was rejected. I had worked for hours, days and night, trying to put in my best efforts.
Yet, I failed.
This was my first time of failing. I had just graduated from college with very good grades and life threw its first punch at me. Below the belt. #AdultingIsHard
After several days of brooding, I stumbled on a piece of writing I had written while in college. And it spurred me to keep pushing.
Here's what I penned down (with a little bit of editing). And it has always been a motivator when the chips are down.
I hope it helps you face the new week brimming with ideas.
Let’s face it.
In all situations we find ourselves, we all have a simple solution to the problem……….
Giving up!
While this is the simplest of solutions, it is certainly not the best to do.
Why?
3 reasons
Your IDEAS Need YOU
We've all experienced it.
At first, you got wowed with an idea you generated and can’t wait till the whole world knows about it…….
But slowly………….
Reality sets in, imaginary challenges surface and you slowly kill that beautiful light and move on with life … grudgingly…… with more pessimism.
Have you seen a mother Tigress with her young ones? Even though she is one of the most dangerous of creatures, she is also one of the most caring mothers.
She stands up for her cubs……especially when they are weak.
So also……
Your IDEAS Need You.
They need you to stand up for them when they are still struggling to get on their feet.
Fight for your ideas and see the weak light blossom to a world-changing spring.
It might seem daunting at first.
It should – if it’s really worth your attention and energy.
All what your ideas require from YOU is to be there for them.
Perseverance Is the Key
“You can outlast those who are lucky, and outwork those who are lazy.”
It doesn't matter.
It’s OKAY if you’re not the best (In fact, highly successful people are usually failures at first)
It’s okay if you are not lucky.
But it’s a guarantee.
Show up everyday. Practice everyday and you will become BETTER!!!
Whether it’s a task you are scared of, or ideas you just won’t pen down……
If you've got your priorities right, you will definitely succeed.
You Deserve It
You've experienced enough failures.
You've missed lots of opportunities because you hesitated.
A few years from now, if you flash back and remember these times.
Then you will be glad ……………………………
You didn't give up
Thank you for the inspiring words in this article.
What I really feel would round this article off well is a happy ending, a big reveal; is there something that you are particularly proud of achieving through practicing your mantras?
This is a really nice post and I hope it's great motivation for anyone who faces depression.
Thanks so much for the compliment.
Thank you. Sadly, my cousin just committed suicide at age 17 s result of depression and antidepressants and wrong diagnoses. I believe, that the only remedy for depression is changing your life drastically otherwise nothing may help.
Such a young age, my conolences. How did you know he was wrongly diagnosed?
Yeah, it's real hard these days, especially with the economy. I'm college graduated as well and trying to look for a new job recently. So many rejections, it's hard to keep going. It's not entirely our fault. But I guess all you can do is keep pushing.
