I Finished Writing My First Book and I'm Sharing It Here (Exclusively). Looking Forward To Reading Your Feedbacks :)
Hi Steemians,
I'm so ecstatic. As one who reads a lot of books. I've always wanted to write my own book. Though this is a short guide. Hopefully, it's the first of many.
I'm so glad to be part of this amazing community of talented steemians and I couldn't have found a better place to share my first work.
Why I Wrote This Book:
(Information Over-Consumption: A Short Guide To Cutting Out Distractions, Saving More Time And Becoming More Productive)1. Reddit Users:
Although I'm not a heavy Reddit user, I visit the Askreddit sub frequently. And on several occasions, I've seen Reddit users complain about how stuck they are to the Internet. Especially Reddit. Of course, contributing to a social network is an exciting activity. However, it's saddening when all that you do is consume, procrastinate and not get anything done.
2. My Life Goal
As an infovore, one of my life goals is to encourage people to get more out of the information they consume.
The average American consumes 34 gigabytes/12 hours of information every day, we can improve our lives with this in a better way.
During my college days, I was voraciously consuming life-changing information without making use of them. It did hit me back and made a huge negative impact on my life.
And then I started making little steps. Replacing my negative actions with positive cues and actions. Then things became better.
And as the results trickled in, I got requests from friends on tips on how to be more productive. Here is it.
Why You Should Read This Book
1. It would mean so much to me to get a feedback from YOU:
The psychology/productivity niche is one I'm fascinated with…. And despite spending hours on research , I'm still learning. And my suggestions/tips might need some tweaks. From you.
I'm looking forward to reading your feedback.
2. If you are stuck on the Internet click-hole and you can’t get important things done. Then you should go through this book.
3. If you wish to get more out interactions online. We all want to.
Would update the links below as soon as I put them up. Thanks so much for reading.

Why We Read So Much? And Tips On Getting More Done
As social beings, our survival depends largely on how we interact with the people around us. To achieve this, being on the alert for information is highly needed. With the advent of the Internet, human beings have never faced so much information. A recent research states that between the dawn of civilization through 2003 about 5 exabytes ((1 000 000 000 000 000 000 bytes) of information was created. Now, that much information is created every 2 days. And the average American consumes 34 gigabytes/12 hours of information every day.
There are several reasons why we get stuck in the internet click-hole, toggling from one web platform to the other. In this chapter, we will take a look at the four most important reasons. While also considering short actionable tips including tools that can help us get better in dealing with the various situations.
1. ENTERTAINMENT:
“You are the mash-up of what you let into your life- Austin Kleon”
Tucking up under the covers at night, with a cup of hot chocolate at hand while reading an interesting book is a great pastime many of us dream of. We get to release the work stress, declutter our thoughts and entertain ourselves.
With the rise of the social media with its attendant click-bait articles and LOL cat videos, entertaining ourselves beyond limits has become the norm. Watching just one more Netflix movie, funny video on YouTube or Vine or gif on Reddit is an irresistible thought. One too exciting to push away.
By implementing the following tips, you can get a better hold of your information consumption and also entertain yourself with a good read at the right time.
Track the time spent weekly on consuming information
As noted by Laura Vanderkam, the author of 168 hours, many people complain that they are too busy to follow their passions and spend time with loved ones. However, a study by Nielsen on how people spend their time weekly reveals an astonishing result. Nearly all Americans spend about 30 hours per week watching TV and 65% of North Americans spend more time with their computer than with their spouse. Allocating a few hours out of these to activities you’ve been putting off would result in steady changes in your life.
So here is your first task, track the amount of time you spend consuming information weekly. You can do this with RescueTime for Web browsers or Checky app for smartphones. Both are great tools for tracking the sites or apps you spend your time with. Try this today and you would be surprised at the sheer amount of time you spend on entertainment.
Tools:
RescueTime,
Menthal, Checky, Moment
Schedule your week with a goal of achieving a life balance
After tracking your weekly consumption of information, it’s time to schedule your week. There are various tools to do this. Some popular ones are
Trello, Toggle, and ATracker.
Tip: To help you make better schedules, think of information as Food.
Food vs Information:You take a meal only when you need it. This would keep you in check when scheduling your weekly entertainment schedule.
Avoid Mornings And Sleep Well
An analysis of many successful people habits reveals two very common traits: They make use of their mornings very judiciously. And sleep well.
Research shows that you’re most cognitively alert two hours after you wake up. You don’t want to spend this valuable time browsing the internet. There are quite a number of tools like FitBit, Jawbone, Sleep cycle, Sleepbot mobile apps to track your sleep and help you sleep better. This will help you wake up early in the morning full of creative energy.
Great job and thanks for sharing! Your tips are easy to follow and accessible- very important in todays age where it is so easy to get sucked into the internet hole
Thanks so much for this. I'm so glad you liked it. Watch out for the other parts ;)
Reading a book is a lot better than spending time on short articles. People are doing the opposite. I can't say that I have not read or know about the information you presented above. I hope your future chapters talk something new and interesting. Also, I am not trying to undermine you in anyway. I have read other posts of yours which were fresh. Thanks a lot.
