RE: With a Little Help from my Friends
Yeah, I had a different idea in mind, thinking "2nd to last house from the end of a dirt road to nowhwere driveable," but now it is "2nd to last house from the turn off to the hot springs." Both are good, and I just have to let go of what I was thinking was the plus and embrace a new plus.
I totally hear you, as that's exactly what I would have to let go of too... Just looking at the map I can feel some very strong pleasant energies coming off the mountains there permeating the whole area. I'm very sensitive with mother earth's energies most of the time. Does the lot have some nice trees on it? Also, just out of curiosity, because I couldn't make out the exact location of the lot on your posted maps, is it on the flat plain, hills or in the mountains? I take it is in the last pic of the "Still zone". I'm just curious how close to the rio or water is it and how many trees would you guess are on it...
If I ever make it back there, I'd love to come and spend some time there too. As I said before once that that is the exact area I had thought of coming to buy a place and live too, before getting side-tracked where I am... :) And your awesome descriptions of the area and the people have done such a great job to add color and texture to the tapestry I have in my heart. I believe Gregg Braden still lives in that area, if you happen to know who he is.
It's a difficult location to describe. It is flat, but there is a steep drop off to a valley just feet from where my property ends to the north. Then the Rio Grande River gorge is within walking distance to my west. Unfortunately there are absolutely no trees on this property, so whatever is there I will have to plant myself. I just couldn't find large enough properties with trees in the area I wanted to be in, unless they were so large I couldn't afford them (like 20 acres).
I know of GB, but am not that familiar with him. There are a lot of well known people around here, I hear. Haven't noticed any of them, but then I don't tend to notice people anyway. I'm so anti-social 😀 Last night I went to my first music event at the Taos Mesa Brewery though and it was awesome. Really good time dancing to Gullah music from visiting artists from GA. Also started getting to know the locals a bit more. Still, I don't think you'll ever hear me talking about "sightings" of our local celebs. We'll see though. Stranger things have happened. LOL
Would love to see you in person whenever you come out this way.
It really sounds like a nice location with nice views overlooking the valley. I can feel your excitement, as you start to settle into the area and culture there. Somehow you add colors to a picture I find myself painting of that area/energy almost like a sort of Sedona-like vibe that seems to be attracting more spiritually minded people to the area.
I did notice the area seemed a bit treeless on the maps. Given where I live not as many trees are left either, some buy larger grown trimmed trees, such as olive trees. My neighbor in the back bought a nice old olive tree (more like a 9 ft. trunk) that must be 50-100 yrs old and had it brought in with a large truck and planted in a new moon week of the winter season. Because I have a special love for trees and feel them as living beings, I paid close attention to that and how well it dug into the land to feel at home, adding so well to the energy of that yard/area now a few years later.
I hear what you are saying on celebrity, as I've met several and always laughed a little at how people act around so called "celebrities". I wouldn't really consider Gregg Braden as a celebrity. Although, I suppose he is somewhat in the spiritual and New Age world, given he is one of the most prolific people I know of and respect who has done a lot to bridge the gap between spirituality and science since at least the 90's. He's part indigenous, I believe to the area there, which is probably part of why he is so profoundly conscious of the wisdom of the ancients and divine connection to all. Your out-of-the-box conscious thinking depth of soul reminds me some of the many things I've herd or read him speak of over the years too. So when I come maybe I can meet and have some long talks with two spiritual celebs. :)
LOL!
