A Walk To Remember Along The Regent's Canal, East London

in #life6 years ago

Regent's canal from Victoria Park' entrance in St. James avenue.

A couple of years ago, Victoria Park can be seen from our front door on the 3rd floor, and the canal can be seen through the gaps in between buildings when facing the park. Accessing them was a matter of seconds from where we live.

Literally.

At the same time, a part-time job warranted walking along the canal, then crossing another park to my tube station. The small hill in this park have shown me awesome sunsets, sitting from one of the benches that overlooks a 360 degrees over the park.

It's also here where during summer, lavender scents enveloped this part of the park and I oftentimes harvested a few that i've put in some of my bags' pockets. They were quite heavenly, and crushing them between my fingers was a favorite past time.

Along Hertfordshire Union Canal.

This follows one side of Victoria Park, going to the Hackney side, straight to Stratford. Although there's not a lot of boats to be seen, this part can be full of them.

London olympics

Looking back, the London Olympics probably gave me one of the best memories i've ever have. I never was in any game, but it sure gave me something.

Going home one afternoon, a live concert was ongoing on top of one of the boats and people were sitting and eating around it on the ground. A pub nearby also had its' pubgoers outside holding their drinks. As our flat was a few minutes away, changing to a comfy clothes and sneakers didn't take long.

In another boat, the owner was selling hotdogs and a beer. Perfect weather. Can one ask for more?

Inside Victoria Park

A lone Pagoda.

This is quite a new addition in the park that's much better to look at from the distance. Believe me, never go near it, let alone inside it.

But going to the park, it's much better to check out its' Pavilion cafe where it have vegan and vegetarian menu. @teodora and I love meeting up in here.

If looking for other things to do, they do marathons in the Hackney part of the park and if one fancies a less able action, FEED THE DUCKS!

Merçi mon amie..you going back to Bow??

That steemitworldmap link didn't seem to work, is it supposed to work? That would indeed be a nice feature, I'd like to refer to map points in my #walkwithme posts and related posts.

it's not being highlighted after pasting..all the time. unless it's missing some code stuff?

So, if I've understood it right ...

  • @Steemitworldmap is an independent service aiming to put steem posts on a world map.
  • It works by searching the blockchain for such links as the one you've posted and record the POI in their database.
  • Service isn't instant, it may take some time from a post is posted and until it shows up on the map
  • Neither Steemit.com nor eSteem supports those tags as for now, but probably in the future if it gets popular.

That's cool, didn't know. I'll definitely tag up my posts.

You probably understand it much better than i do😁

Awesome #walkwithme @immarojas, I loved your description of the lavender...I would love to smell that place, I could only imagine how heavenly it would be so thanks for including that.

Thanks @lyndsaybowes..that and those sunsets were pretty amazing.

Lovely! I love those walks that say with us long after the actual journey. <3

Stored memories with or without family/friends in it yeah, even those feelings/reflections one have had.

the place seems so quiet and peaceful.. very relaxing.

A lot of reflections have happened along those canals kuya...nakaka-relax jan talaga.

Great story @immarojas.

John and I were planning on walking along the Regent's Canal on Sunday, after the London Crypto Currency show the day before, but it turned out to be a good 40 minutes from where we were so we change our plans.

Instead we opted for the Thames Path around which Chiswick Pier which was in the right direction for home.

We walked a lot of the Regent's Canal Path a few years ago and really enjoyed it so I'll like to go back soon.

I hope you're having a good in the Philippines. 😍

Yeah..it's a good place to walk on either direction. Made me want a boat before lols...
Am so envious with Rod's vid of the crypto-show. Was nice to see u there.
