5 VIRTUES A GOOD LEADER SHOULD POSSESS

In my own world, the shoes of a leader is not what just anybody can dip their legs into. To be a leader, the personality must have passed through some thorough scrutiny and tests, tests that life itself will have put in place.
The survival of any institution, be it a business, family, relationship, just anything we can think of, depends greatly on the personality paving way for others to follow in the institution. On most ocassions, the leader of any institution is the propelling force of that institution. If the leader leads well, then success is inevitable but in situations where bad leaders are in place, doom is unpreventable in such institutions.
Based on my own experience and exposure over the last few years, I'll describe what a leader should be like with 5 different virtues.
Follow me on a very short and precise journey of what good leadership entails.

• Humility: There is a common saying that the best leaders are the best followers. A leader should be a very good listener. When he listens well, he knows what exactly his followers want and it also helps him device means of leading them perfectly. Only a humble leader with authority will listen to his followers when he can just give commands.

• Endurance: A good leader should endure his followers. A leader deals with different variety of people, the good, the bad and the ugly. Some will behave well, some will behave otherwise. To be able to manage any institution perfectly, a good leader must undersand how to bring different people together and unite them. He must be a proponent of unity and oneness.

• Patience: Patience holds the key to so many things. It's the virtue that preceeds endurance. An impatient leader will not be good at enduring people. A leader deals with people with differences in almost everything, sometimes it may be race, tribe, language, belief, religion or way of life, the only way to create good co-existence between them is to be patient enough to listen to what everybody is and how best to deal with them. In one phrase, patience is a virtue.

• Foresight: A good leader must be a very good forecaster. He must be able to project excellently into the future so as to know how to manipulate the present for a better future. Foresight is a virtue that makes it possible to predict correctly what the future holds. So when a leader has a perfect idea of how the future looks like, managing the present will be a much easier task.

• Leading by Example: This is just a more advanced way of saying 'practise what you preach'. In everything a leader does, he should follow his own instructions if he wants his followers to follow as required. A leader boosts his followers' confidence to follow him when he is the first person to follow instructions. However, a leader that leads by example never abuses his own authority. What makes a leader is the authority in his possession. Using that authority badly will be the beginning of his own destruction.

As a matter of fact, before bestowing the power of leadership on anyone, their personality should be carefully and thoroughly checked for the presence of the above qualities.
