How The Remittance Industry Is killing Shelf Employed People In My Country

Hello everyone, I am amulya from Nepal. Nepal is a small landlocked country between India and China. We have an amazing weather and a very good food here. We regularly eat rice and pulse with some curries here as our meal two times a day. We also like to take some spicy pickles with our meal.
People here have diverse occupation and lifestyle. Most people involved in agriculture have started to take some other profession like government jobs and other private jobs as well. The youth population have stopped doing traditional farming and started to go abroad for studies and jobs. Every year there are thousands and thousand of Nepalese leaving this country for jobs in the gulf countries. This is because the per capita income of Nepal is very low. The jobs here are not that well paid. People have to either do some business or struggle very hard just to reach the income of around 200-300 $ per month. The cost of living is also getting expensive day by day here. Apart from people who are engaged in private or government jobs some people here also work as a freelancer. Most of them who work as a freelancer here run their own websites. They generate revenue through advertisements displayed in their web sites. About 80% of the people who run their web site in Nepal are affiliated with Google. The display advertisement from Google and earn some revenue which take about a month to reach to their hands. In Nepal people are paid by Google through western union. Western Union has so huge charges that some people here have started using alternative methods to get paid. Like for example if someone has a monthly earning of 300 $ then he/she would only receive around 260 $. In Nepal 1 $ = 108 NRs but when people go to receive their earning they would be paid at the rate of 104 NRS. On top of that western union has a charge of up to 5-6%. This is why many people who run their web site business are so discouraged. Western Union is cheating them.
