Are You Willing to Work With Others If They Need Your Help?

in #life3 years ago

If you've ever had to deal with a difficult situation or been left by someone you are close to, you know how frustrating it can be to have people treat you like you're an idiot when you need help. You're not a 'dummy' or a 'lazy' person. In fact, you're far from those things. And so it's important that you show people you're willing to work with them when they need your help.

That doesn't mean that you should never ask for help. It just means that you have to be willing to extend yourself in order to be helpful. The more flexible you are about helping others, the more they'll find you to be a valuable resource.

For instance, if you're a writer, being willing to work with others if they need your help is pretty basic. Simply find the books that you love to write, read them a few times, learned a few things, put your own thoughts on them down on paper and then send them off to the writers' workshops or bookstores for publication. Or even better: start your own bookstore! But if you don't know the first thing about running a business, you'd be better off starting with that than trying to manage a bookstore full of other people who are willing to give you a hand with your new career.

In fact, it's a good idea to be a little bit flexible about your personal goals and career plans. If you think that you might change careers and that you might want to teach school someday, finding out what you would need to do to get that first job or to get yourself hired at a local school district (if you're teaching) or to secure funding for your own school may save you a lot of time and headaches if you're willing to work with others if they need your help. And if your current passion ends up getting in the way of your current job, you can always keep your current job and turn it into a vacation every now and then. Who knows?

Another thing that you'll want to think about if you're a freelancer or someone who doesn't have a regular job is that you're going to want to make sure that you are able to be flexible and responsive to the needs of others, especially when you're just getting started. When you're trying to decide whether you should be willing to work with others if they need your help, you have to ask yourself whether or not you're a truly independent person who is willing to take responsibility for your own actions and your own outcome. If you think you can't handle that kind of responsibility, you might want to keep looking at other opportunities where you can be more hands-on. You can always hire others later to help you run your business or handle any other aspect of your business that requires your full attention.

Finally, if you're a teacher or a trainer, you might be willing to consider working with others if they are in a particular field that you are very passionate about. After all, no matter how much you love teaching or coaching, if you aren't able to see yourself in a position of being an effective coach or trainer, you're likely not going to produce the best work possible. You may not always be able to help a client effectively or even know what the right steps are to helping them get the most out of the program, but you will be the one who is ultimately responsible for the outcomes. After all, if you're not happy with the results, you're the one who has to fix what's wrong. It's only fair to ask others to help you if you're not doing a good job of providing them with a high level of assistance.

If you are considering helping others to start their own business, you will want to be willing to work with them if it means that you can either get more money or that you get more exposure. Of course, some people are simply better suited than others when it comes to helping others launch their businesses. If you don't have the right skills, you might end up hurting those that you are trying so hard to help. If you are really dedicated to helping others succeed, though, you will be willing to work with anyone no matter what level of experience they have in running their own business.

As long as you're willing to consider all of the options that you have, there should be no reason why you shouldn't be willing to work with others if they need your help. In fact, you'll soon find that you're able to help others succeed because you've discovered all of the ways that you can benefit from being helpful. So long as you take the time to think about how your actions could affect other people, you will soon find that you are able to help others succeed.
