How Facebook is Changing Your Internet
Behind the scenes, Facebook is involved in high-stakes diplomatic battles across the globe that have begun fragmenting the internet itself. Here in Costa Rica (and many other developing nations) Facebook provides free access to their site and messenger services. The upshot of this is many Costa Ricans only see the internet through FB so are getting a filtered, data controlled version of cyberspace. By offering free services FB will quickly become a monopoly and squash all competition in the process. I would love @ned @dan and Steemit to offer similar free services to break FB's monopoly and offer the possibility of free news and information for all!
