**COLOMBIAN SKATECATION** - The CRAZIEST Road I Have Ever Skated!!! And Best Video I Have Shot Yet!!!

COLOMBIAN SKATECATION

The Colombian skaters call this road La Teta(The Tits)! I call it insane!
The road is so steep it's hard to walk up it, not to mention it's well above the city of Medellin, which is already at the elevation of 1,495 m.

Originally I was just thinking I would go to California for a week to escape the Canadian winter, so I started messaging skaters I knew who travelled a lot, and asked them for suggestions for spots. Most people were waiting out the rainy seasons, so I kept looking till I messaged Alex Ameem, the former owner of Valhalla Longboards. He gave up ownership to make the company a co-op, so I was already liking this guy. He got right back to me with some suggestions, but then ended it with " or you could just come skate with me in Colombia.", and I knew I had to go. He had a spare room and bed for me to crash at his place, and was a short ride to get to some great spots.

Greeted with some authentic cooking, it was amazing

I had never left North America yet, but after traveling BC, Canada, as well as LA solo, I figured this was the next step. Tho I was very nervous, I booked my flight, figured out the route to his place, and started to try to learn Spanish as quickly as I could. Wish I had more time, because about all I learnt was to ask for the bathroom, but I guess that was fairly important too. Luckily I was staying with Alex who was American, so I knew it was possible to get by, but next time I do want to be more prepared.
I also didn't know that because Canada had started charging Colombians a fee of some sort when they came to Canada, thanks to Trudeau, so the Colombians in return were charging Canadians to enter Colombia! It was something like $150, and I only had like $50 in Colombia Pesos. I tried my cards, but none of them were working, even in the ATM I tried. Just when I thought I was about to be sent back to Canada, a random stranger who had helped with some translations for me while they were explaining what the charge was for, offered to pay the remaining amount it owed! I really wish I had gotten this guys picture, or found him on facebook, but he didn't even want me to try to pay him back. Honestly this saved my whole trip, if you are out there reading this somehow, THANK YOU!

This guy was actually really nice, just caught him at a moment where he only looked grumpy. I showed him after and we had a good laugh about it.

(Interesting fact - It's hard to find good coffee in Colombia, because they export most of the good stuff. They infect mostly drink instant coffee, which they put in plastic cups that don't look like they are meant for the heat.)
