Hello again Steemians!

In 1811, the German jeweller Johan Jacob Schweppe founded and established the popular company “Schweppes” in London. He invented an efficient system that introduced carbon dioxide bubbles into the water, which was bottled later. As a result, the sparkling water became a success and fruit-flavoured sodas followed it as well.
It was not until 1870 when, due to the extraordinary growth that the production of medicinal syrups had had in the Anglo-Saxon pharmacy, J. Schweppe & Co had the idea of including quinine in the carbonated orange soda to produce tonic water; a drink that was a medicine to fight malaria.

To celebrate the successive victories of the British troops in India, a senior British official proposed to add gin to the tonic to make an alcoholic combined. It is not clear if the gin was chosen because it refers to the city, where Schweppe lived when he invented the tonic, or if it was due to the medicinal properties that have been attributed to gin since antiquity.

Another version of the origin ensures that the combination of gin with tonic is born precisely due to the properties of quinine to fight malaria. British soldiers displaced to India began to combine the tonic with gin to improve the flavor of the first.

In this way the Gin Tonic came out, and quickly it spread throughout the planet.
Nowadays, it is served as appetizing, in mid-afternoon or at night. Doubtlessly, the Gin Tonic is one of the most fashionable drinks.

I hope you liked it. 😊😊
