A recipe that I thought up myself because I missed the stew.

Vegetarian Stew

Those who have taken the step to less meat, vegetarian or even vegan ... sooner or later they will take a look at the white block of Tempeh, and try! And I can tell you, this white block is MAGIC! We love it.

But what exactly is Tempeh?

A block of fermented soybeans. And no, that may not sound like a heavenly dish. But it is really a very nice block. The beauty of this tempeh is that it is incredibly healthy. It is actually THE healthiest meat substitute available, and also healthier as the meat itself. And the beauty of tempeh is that you can give it any taste you want. Tempeh itself is fairly neutral in taste, but with herbs you can give the tempeh any flavor you want.
Why is tempeh actually so healthy?
Simply put, for various reasons, but not in the last place because tempeh contains a lot of healthy vitamins and minerals.

It is a real protein bomb with 12 grams of protein per 100 grams. And that is just as much as you find in an egg. Only where the egg contains 3 grams of saturated fat, tempeh contains only 1 gram of saturated fat.

The fungi needed for the fermentation of the soybeans are also very good for your intestines, so you can compare tempeh with probiotics. And because of the fermentation, the phytic acid that contains all legumes is removed from the tempeh.

The phytic acid ensures that your body can absorb the vitamins and minerals from the legumes less easily by attaching to those vitamins and minerals in the intestines. Because tempeh no longer contains phytic acid, your body can absorb all the vitamins and minerals that tempeh contains very easily.

Studies with both rats, (unfortunately performed on animals) and with people have shown that tempeh CAN help prevent or grow breast cancer, colon cancer and prostate cancer. This is because the soy proteins suppress the proteins that are necessary for the growth of cancer cells. This way it can help to prevent or slow the growth of the cancer cells.

Reason enough I would say to eat more tempeh. And to help you ...

A recipe to make Vegetarian Stew yourself!

As an ex-meat eater there was always that one moment that I missed, I was always so fond of fries with a stew sauce. Once I had started to eat vegetarian, that was the one thing that I kept missing and to have that one more time I would 'kill somebody' so to speak. To get rid of those 'murder tendencies' I decided to experiment with tempeh.

So I took a large bowl and threw some olive oil in there, I took a jar of paprika powder, a jar of chilli powder, (we like it hot), and I threw some maggi through, a little bay leaf and some clove ... I mixed that. to a nice smooth marinade sauce together. I cut my magical white block into small blocks and passed through the marinade. And the whole covered with foil and a night in the fridge. In between, always shove.

The next day grabbed a casserole, and the tempeh just briefly on high fire and then ... simmer, make sure that nothing burns and that you already get a nice sauce during baking, by always adding a little water.

Finally I added some vega gravy powder and noble yeast flakes ... some water to get a nice sauce and if you are not satisfied with the thickness of your sauce you can add more water, or just thicken it with some breadcrumbs.

This is one of our favourite recipes now ... with oven fries, lettuce with pineapple slices and finally the tempeh stew over the fries to finish with some vayonaise.

I wish everyone a tasty meal. And believe me ...

it is really DELICIOUS!

Good Morning :-) I located you through @steempunksnet. This sounds like a really reasonable recipe. It would be good for me and mine to cut back on our meat a bit. Although, technically, I think we have rather by accident.

But so and I've bookmarked your post for future consideration.

PS. You're under attack ;-)
