Try a new thing

in #life8 years ago (edited)

"Oga Malachy, I wan remove everything". He couldn't hold back the amazement, but gave up a simple smile. "Why nau?", he asked. I had this straight look on and I just didn't know what else to tell him except "I just want make the thing start afresh. E don tey wey I dey carry am. In fact, e fit don even reach 2 years since I remove am last" ...
That 3mins conversation on Friday night was a defining moment in my life. I was sitting right on the hot seat, and a choice had to be made. The outcome of which would have a direct impact on my image, I mean, literally. confused-880735_1280.jpg

My conversation partner was my barber, Mr. Malachy. I was about to get a haircut, which was a monthly task for me. Here's the most interesting fact, I had gone straight to my barber with an already made choice of getting a very low-cut, not skin, just low. Sitting on that seat and starring at the mirror brought great fear, terror, doubt and whatever synonymous feeling your get when you're about to "trade your queen for a pond" in a chess game. Finally, I decided to go for it, and the journey began into a whole new identity.stock-photo-rear-view-shot-of-handsome-hairdresser-cutting-hair-of-male-client-hairstylist-serving-client-at-569535106.jpg

23mins had just passed and I was about to look into the mirror to observe the outcome of my decision. The barber was smart enough to obstruct me from seeing the mirror during the period of the barbing. Finally, I saw 'a me' I hadn't seen for a long time. A me I had last seen in my 2nd year in the university when I took this photo with @xpressngFB_IMG_1514453195268.jpg

Out with the story, in with the lesson. You know me; all my stories always ends with lessons for you my dear reader.

Don't ever be too scared to try a new thing. Change is sometimes necessary in order to usher in a better you. I changed my looks and now I'm looking younger. Who cares? I may not get all the attentions I use to get, but I can now apply for a good job with a tag of 'decency'. I'm not saying I wasn't decent, I was good looking.
You may not need a haircut like I did, but yours maybe a tougher case. But never forget what NIKE says "Just do it". You'll never know unless you try. After all, what's the worst that could happen?

I'm still your humble entrepreneural friend and wardrobe manager @harry-heightz

Kindly read, learn, upvote, comment, resteem, follow and "just do it".
