Today, I will show more detail steps to make personalized etched glass mug.

• First step is designing.
  

Measure the area you want to etch on the glass.

According to the size, design on the software.
I am using Adobe Illustrator (older version). It's a bit expensive.
Corel Draw is cheaper, and good enough for designing.
Or you may be able to find free software which can make vector images.

Also, by hand sketch, you can draw image on a sheet of paper and place the paper inside of glass.
You can use Dremel tools to etch by hands.

• Cutting vinyl sheet

When design is done, you can cut vinyl.

• Apply vinyl as a mask on the glass

Before apply the vinyl, please make sure to use transfer tape.
Put transfer tape over the vinyl to apply vinyl on the glass easily.

• Weeding

Weed the only the area you etch on the vinyl.

• Masking

When weeding is done, next is masking.
You can use masking tape for painting which can be found at dollar stores.
Masking is very important step. If you miss masking, it will ruin all your efforts you have made.
So, please be careful, make sure mask the glass perfectly.

• Etching by Sandblast or Chemical Cream

Now, it's time to etch the glass by sandblaster.
Put the glass in the cabinet, you blast special sand by high are pressure from compressor.

• Remove masking, wash the glass.

さて、昨日の続きです。
今回は具体的なステップをご紹介します。

＊　まず、デザインです。
ソフトウェアを使ってデザインします。
ソフトが無い場合は、紙にデザインしてその紙をガラスの内側に配置し、トレースしながら手彫りしていく方法もあります。

＊　次にカッティングマシンでデザインを切ります。

＊　カッティングマシンでカットしてビニルシートをガラス上に貼ります。

＊　ビニルを貼ったら、彫刻する部分だけマスクをはがしましょう。

＊　彫刻する部分が出てきましたら、マスキングをします。マスキングは慎重に漏れがないようにマスクしてください。せっかくの努力もマスキングのミスで作品が台無しになることもあります。

＊　マスキングが終わったら、サンドブラストで彫りましょう。

＊　彫った後は、マスキングを全て取り外し、水で洗いましょう。

＊　乾くと彫刻部分がはっきりと浮かび上がってきます。
