Buying vs Adopting Pets
Nowadays nearly every family has their own pet, it's another family member. But did you buy or adopt? In this post I will be pointing out the benefits of adopting instead of buying pets.
1.Buying a pet can cost a lot of money, it ranges from $500 upwards. Adopting cost in the range of $50-200 depending on if it comes from a shelter or a rescue group, sometimes this price also includes the the cost of spay, first vaccines and the microchipping.
2.Mixed-breed last longer than pure breed, it will last longer and will cost less in vet bills. Many purebred are prone to developing health problems.
3.A pet bought from a pet store is completely unknown unlike if you adopt, you can normally walk and get to know the animal before you make your mind up. The animal shelter has a history on the animal and will always help you with any questions about the animal or about adopting.
4.When you adopt you're saving a life. When you buy a pet you are supporting an industry that breed animals in mills in horrible conditions and do not care about the animal, which then sell to pet stores these animals are often ill-health conditions and have problems like poor socialization skills due to lack of human companionship and genetic defects due to inbreeding. So if you adopt instead of buying from a pet store you are helping the shelters and fighting against the animal mills.
5.If you adopt you get a choice of age and what mixed-breed you want to adopt. In the pet shop there is normally only a few purebreds to choose from, they are at high prices and they are normally young and have no training, if you go to rescue shelters there is many more to choose from and there is a variety of ages to pick from too, so if you adopt an old dog there are many benefits: they are normally house trained and are well behaved.
6.You help break the cycle of overpopulation, if you adopt you help weaken the pet overpopulation as there are not enough homes for all the animals that are born every year. Each year 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized because there are simply not enough homes.
7.Because they offer and extra boost. Not only do they give you unconditional love, but they have shown to be psychologically, emotionally and physically beneficial to their companions. Caring for a pet can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment and lessen feeling of loneliness, and when you adopt you can also feel proud of helping an animal in need.
8.You encourage other people to adopt. When you adopt your pet and go for walks, you speak to other people with or without pets, if you tell them that you adopted them it will encourage them to do the same as you did.
I think it's so important to adopt instead of buying, these animals show you so much love and appreciate everything you do for them, they are so loyal and will always be there no matter what. More people that want to add an animal to their life should research and find out information for themselves that buying from pet stores just benefits animal mills unlike adopting you save a life and leave a free space for another animal to go into that shelter.

In all my boards many are trying to rescue dogs but NOBODY is trying to rescue kids from foster care. In fact when someone posts to help these kids there are no replies
That's very true but it's a lot harder to adopt a kid than a pet but still there are many people out there that can't have kids, they should look into adoption.
It's quite sad how nobody replies to help the kids I'm quite young at the moment so kids aren't my priority xD but in the future I'd love to look into adopting. Thanks for the comment!!
