2018-04-07: 24 Days in the Wild
Shallow Thoughts
Things are FINALLY starting to get back to normal in my household. According to Steemit, I was on a beach at Kiawah Island South Carolina 24 days ago, enjoying some much-needed time off with the family. Since then, the following things have happened, in no particular order:
- thoroughly enjoyed tennis, beach, and family in Kiawah for 2 more wonderful nights
- took my older daughter in for an overnight sleep test
- took my younger daughter in for an overnight sleep test
- took a clinical home sleep test for myself
- took an overnight business trip to Moline, Illinois, the town that John Deere built
- learned that my older daughter has an obstructive sleep apnea that's likely causing ADHD and a host of other issues
- took my older daughter in to get her tonsils and adenoids removed as a remedy for this obstructive sleep apnea
- worked, and worked, and worked
That should just about catch you up. Needless to say, I haven't really felt "compelled to create" lately. I wasn't going to write anything tonight, but my wife whipped up the perfect summary of the last 24 hours and wanted to share:
Some food for thought:
- when my daughter came out of anesthesia, she was a completely different person. Anyone who takes opioids recreationally is completely fucked in the head. If you know someone who takes opioids recreationally, either find help for them for completely dissociate from them. That shit is just nasty.
- there's no such thing as "routine" surgery.
Deep Thoughts
Life has a deadline.
I have been lax in my work lately because some of my clients are lax about setting explicit deadlines for when they want something done. If client X says they want something "ASAP", the laziest part of me will define "possible" however it wants. If client X says they want something by May 1st 2018, the most industrious part of me will lay out a plan to get it done and then stick to it.
The solution? Make my own deadlines, and become my most demanding client.
The lazy path inevitably leads to overwhelming stress when all the various deadlines converge. The industrious path will leave time for strategic thinking and planning that prevents such catastrophes.
This applies in work, and it also applies in life. And whether I like it or not, life has a deadline and I don't want to feel the stress and regret of unfinished business when that deadline arrives.
Bonus Thoughts
I sat down intending to post one picture and my stats, and ended up putting together one of my favorite off-the-cuff blogs to date. Half of success truly is just showing up.

this kind of routine is that I use it in my work, sometimes dealing with people is difficult but the deadlines are the best, for the organization and execution, the success is the result of patience and perseverance, personally work better with some stress. Welcome again, that your girls are better and blessings for all your family.
I hope your daughters are better, the picture shows that children are many times stronger than adults, in terms of work stress is true is preferable to put a limit and a deadline as well as a strategy and do everything in the best way, this i apply it when I have to studying big agendas. greetings and blessings. 🌻💫💪

hello, I'm a dog that starts in steemit with a purpose, and I must say that I love children, run and pursue the desire that your girls are better, they are super cute. I like it when my mom feels pressure for work, because when she plans and executes she is very happy, and that makes me happy so that's good
Now I understand where you've been! And you're right, life does have a deadline! I just wrote a post about motivation and I used to tell this to my students...perhaps it applies here?
Get 'er done buddy :) I've missed your thoughts, and I hope things 'lighten' up for you soon!
