10 Simple Tips to Boost Your Productivity Everyday
These are 10 of the simplest, most applicable rules that you could easily apply to increase your productivity, and add hours of productive work to your day. These techniques are my favorites, as they have proven to have the most effect on productivity level. Feel free to try them and see if they work.
1. Set daily goals: This has been said too many times, but it is a very important one. Without a goal, there won’t be much focus, and one whole day can go to waste. Always set target for the next day before you go to sleep.
2. Do the most difficult task first:
A lot of successful entrepreneurs do this everyday. They do the most difficult, most annoying task first thing in the morning. Be it checking emails and responding to customers, or whatever it is that you just don’t feel like doing. Get it over with by doing it first.
3. Identify your pick times: Identify the time of day that you are most productive. For me it is always the late night hours. Once you find those precious hours, schedule your most important tasks for those times. The rest of the work can be done at any other time of the day.
4. Set deadlines: Set a deadline for each task. Once there is a deadline time, you will subconsciously stay on track.
5. Stick with one task at a time: When you begin a task, make sure you complete it 100% before going to another task. As tempting as it might be, don’t switch to another task in the middle of your current one.
6. Set mini-goals: When you start working on a task, set the target you must achieve in that one sitting, before going to the next task. For example if you’re writing a blog, you could decide not to get up until you have written at least 500 words. This will help sharpen your focus on the task at hand.
7. Delete all non-essential tasks: Identify what absolutely needs to be done, and what doesn’t. Delete the tasks that aren’t necessary and you can do without.
8. Batch similar tasks: Categorize similar tasks into groups. For example you can do phone calls, and all correspondence tasks together in one single session.
9. Create a relaxing workplace: Deliberately make sure that your work space is free of anything that will cause stress. Choose a quiet, comfortable place to work in. This will automatically increase your focus and increase your productivity.
10. Make promises: When you start telling others of what your goals and targets are, you are automatically motivated to actually do them and achieve them. Just so you can update others about it, and prove to them that you could do it.
