Rebuilding the PoolsteemCreated with Sketch.

The season was changing, winter on the horizon. Twas the time of year you don't want to get caught in unfinished business (not in the Ottawa Valley pool business anyway.) A most wonderful retired couple were looking to downsize their 20x40' standard rectangle to free up yard space, yet keep the good times rolling when the grandchildren visited. I recruited my long time friend and solid working partner to complete the task at hand in a timely fashion.

This is what we did.

We spent the first few days breaking out the old cement deck around the perimeter so that we could excavate and break the shallow end walls out. This was accomplished with nothing much more than a jackhammer and shovels.

As you may notice, we conveniently opted to bury any evidence of the old deck into the bottom, seeing as we were raising the depth also.

~Attention~
Do not smash your finger into steel walls while operating a jackhammer

With my busted finger, we proceeded to assemble and level new walls in place along with a set of stairs.

After cementing the walls in place we ran new top mount coping and shaped the bottom a bit. We also trenched alongside for new plumbing.

Ooohh.. Ahh.. Grout day :)

With plumbing and backfill complete we proceed to form the new deck. Getting Chilli...

Now were ready to drop a liner. Home stretch!

With time and weather on our side we were able to pour the new deck to end the season off right.
